Yeah, ASLOW is like my favorite mod o_O.

Good Luck in Porting, and, just one complaint, why does my accountant in Bhaesir(am I right? haven't played MB in a long time) keep finishing the cash, I'm usually left with only 200 gold in the treasury after a few days adventuring

By the way -- sorry about the delay, but I'm almost done. I just have a few things to tweak and a few factions to name (or would anyone be too seriously bothered by the opening menus talking about the nefarious $NATIVISTs?), and I'll be ready to post the .808 port -- maybe even this evening.

It looks much more impressive than the old version, if I dare say so myself ; I'm starting to be reconciled to the fact that it may be a long, long time before I have any art in earnest...

However, is anybody interested in finally implementing the various feminine headwear and thereby allowing me to get rid of those ubiquitous and rather stupid hoods? I'm sure they'd be useful in other mods with a broadly similar style, and that they shouldn't be too hard to come up with in an effective manner -- though I'd be happy to vet any concept art anyone cared to draw up, or to suggest look-and-feel sources...

So, this is going to be out later today?!

I. JUST. CAN'T. WAIT.

Seriously, from what I've read so far this mod should give my M&B playing time a serious boost.
I have not played earlier releases, so, is it actually possible to "finish" the game with this mod?
As in, owning every city on the map and having a victory screen come up or something?

@DasFlo

MnB is non-linear, so there is no such thing as a victory screen. Sad to say. Probably scriptable though, not sure cause I ain't a modder.

@otto

Wow, nice. Too bad I have to sleep, gonna test that mod out tomorrow. and it better be darn good XD

Great news about the development still going strong. This has been my favourite mod (did somebody say that before?) thus I want to "support my modder" and spam the thread with meaningless post meant to encourage ex_ottoyuhr.
Very good job so far, keep it up. I am looking forward to the first mod with Brecht in it.

So, it's evening.
Did i mention I can't wait for this to be released?

(trying to encourage someone by giving his thread some slightly spamy activity? naaaah)

Oh, great, great. I'm trapped between two fires -- a wildly eager fanbase on the one side, and an M&B Repository that I still can't access on the other.

I haven't yet been able to upload to the Repository, and the worst of it is that my latest version is a mere 7 megabytes. I know the problem isn't on the Repository's end, what's more -- my apartment complex has perennial bandwidth problems from large numbers of people recklessly using peer-to-peer stuff and other such crap. Anyone here care to take a trip over here and help me saber a few music pirates?

I will continue to make the attempt, though. This had better work...

(And thanks for the exceptionally generous compliments, too! I had no idea I was this popular...)

They might not even be music pirates.
Hell, for all you know they could be busy distributing pirated copys of M&B.
You know the right thing to do, don't you?

*hands axe and chainsaw*

Oh, don't forget to upload ASLOW before da police come for ya

Seriously though, hope you'll have more luck today.

Edit:
Just in case, you might try an alternate upload location - preferably one where you can use a decent ftp client to get it online.
You could also try sending the file to someone via e.g icq and have them upload it - assuming your local leecherpiratescumbags wouldn't prevent that upload, too.

No luck yet, Dasflo. But thanks for the good wishes and the armaments.

I'm turning in for now; I'll try to upload again in the morning before work, but if that doesn't work, another 8-ish hours' wait... This is really irritating.

However, is this really on my side? Is everyone else able to use the File Repository?

Hey otto, you can send it to me (when you can read this post) My M&B File Repository working fine, so it isn't server-side.

Scrap that, my Repository ain't working either, Server Maintenance it says. (Error 503)

On another note. ASLOW FTW. Just had to say it.

Oh, and I've been wondering, did you get just a teensy bit of inspiration from Fire Emblem?

So, if it indeed is server-side, wouldn't puting up the 7meg file at some free webspace (make it rapidshare or similar if you have to) be a rather decent solution until files can be upped again at the repository?

LISTEN TO THIS MAN!

Try asking Janus what's going on with the repository if you're having problems. We need more threads for the Cartographer's Guild

I seem not able to start a new topic in the Cartographers. xD

@otto
Yeah, actually, you can upload it to rapidshare, filecloud or moddb I think.

edit:

Repository's working fine now. I can help now if you still see problems.

Still having repository trouble. Went to Rapidshare, but couldn't figure out where to sign up...

More comments on more subjects to come later. Sorry, but I need to get to work...

don't go to rapidshare.de, go to rapidshare.com. You don't have to sign up

Anyways, you can send it to me and I can upload it, only if you want to though.

on a side note, any ETA when the mod's gonna released? if it's in a few minutes, I can afford to stay up o_O

If it wasn't for us not geting our hands on the new Aslow this whole mess would be pretty hilarious actually!

However, do as suggested: just use rapidshare.com

You get the option to upload the file on the frontpage, no way to oversee it or do anything wrong. You'll be given a download link after the upload has completed - we'd use that link to get the file for now. Of course, geting the file up via someone else at the repository is still to be prefered.

Well, it's worked after all. Thanks for the advice on rapidshare.com -- I had just intuitively assumed that "Rapidshare" meant the usually-synonymous ".de" afterwards...

Noted for the future, though.

Tuckles: About Fire Emblem... well, ASLOW was originally planned as a Fire Emblem 4 mod, and then I kind of had second thoughts about the whole "developing without a license" bit, and, well, one thing led to not doing another. Let's just say that if I had known in advance that this was going to be about Honseli (everything about them's unpublished, and will be for some time, but they do have a very well-defined "existence" in the larger setting in which the mod occurs), I would've done everything pretty differently.

As it is, though, I think it works pretty well. You'll see more of how that's the case as the story gets implemented, of course... (I'm particularly pleased with how Kinin's working out in the story, despite being a 99 and 44/100% pure Nodion knock-off in origin. But then, you'll see more of Kinin working, too, once my slogging through the Great Interminability of a game that'll probably not be over 10-15 hours  starts producing results...)

(The problem with this is that I'm trying to write things massively in parallel, so that I've written over 200 kilobytes of module_dialogs, plus creating scenes, engineering battle templates, and so on, and I still haven't gotten the player out of Baheisir yet. I should stop doing that, and focus on implementing a single story completely, then going back to the others. The trouble is that I don't know how much continuing interest there'll be once the story's been told once, apart from "what-ifs" and curiosities -- Naisu, for example, has a really different role in the story if you're not married to her -- because, as you've probably already guessed, there will be a pretty decidedly Big Twist near the middle, or perhaps near the end depending on how much more I create, of the story. Not the one you might expect, of course...)

Well, I suppose I'll stop daily hoping you'll come out with a release then.  It sounds like you have your work quite cut out for you.  That said, when you do pull this off, it should be spectacular.

For what its worth, I would certainly play it through multiple times for the "what-ifs" but then, I suspect you knew that.
