Finally, one of the guards stepped back. "Alright, alright, you win! We give up! Call it off?"

Halden wiped blood from his lip. "Sure, we'll let you off, but you've gotta pay up!"

The guards marched out of the arena grumbling, as they filed past halden handing him coins.

Halden was standing on the walls above Zendar Gate. He looked out and was surprised to see a dust cloud on the eastern horizon. He turned to take the news down to the constable, and there was another dust cloud on the western horizon! He began raising the alarm.

Halden looked down at the raving Septum, who was being carried into the guardhouse. Well, we've lost that one, he thought. He spun around and pulled out his bow.
