SP - Player, NPCs & Troops A reason for war and how AI behave because of it (Casus Belli)

Users who are viewing this thread

there should be more to it then simply declaring war, there should be a Casus Belli- a reason for war, and this reason should determine the behavior of the campaign AI. also, the personality traits should play a role on what Casus Belli they vote for. here are examples I thought of for Casus Belli:

- Liberation: a faction will declare war to gain settlements that have the same culture as theirs (as a side note this can be the type of war a rebellion declares).
Behavior: to focus on sieging those settlements and avoid raiding. will not want peace until at least one settlement is obtained or significant losses.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: positive Honor trait, positive Generosity trait.
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: other faction does not have settlement of your culture, negative Honor trait, negative Generosity trait.

- Land and Fiefs: a faction will want to declare war if a vassal has no fief.
Behavior: mostly sieging with some raiding. will not want peace until at least one settlement is obtained or significant losses.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: personally does not own fief, positive Honor trait, Positive Valor trait. positive Mercy trait
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: negative Honor trait, negative Valor trait. negative Mercy trait.

- For Honor: a faction will declare war on a comparably strong faction if they haven't declared war for 100 in game days.
Behavior: a mix of raiding and sieging. will not want peace until significant losses on one or the others side or dealt.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: positive Honor trait, Positive Valor trait.
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: negative Honor trait, negative Valor trait.

- Jealousy: a faction will declare war on a faction that is significantly stronger them.
Behavior: a mix of raiding and sieging. will not want peace until significant losses on one or the others side or dealt.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: hates other faction's ruler, negative Honor trait, negative Generosity trait, Positive Valor trait.
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: likes other faction's ruler, positive Honor trait, Positive Generosity trait. negative Valor trait.

- Plunder: a faction will declare war in order to gain money
Behavior: mostly raiding with little in the way of sieges. willing to make peace if other faction gives high tribute or deals significant loss.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: poor or very poor, negative Honor trait, negative Generosity trait, negative Mercy trait
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: rich or very rich, positive Honor trait, Positive Generosity trait. positive Mercy trait.

- Opportunity: a faction will declare war on a faction that´s in multiple loosing wars.
Behavior: mainly siege. They want their part of the served cake but will quickly peace if encountering medium losses or gaining tribute.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: Good relation with vote initiator.
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: Bad relation with vote initiator. Positive Generosity.

-Punity war: a faction will declare war on a faction that has expanded alot. Can only be selected by a ruler and only if the target has expanded alot.
Behavior: Mainly battles and sieges.
Other reasons for clan leader voting for: Good relation with vote initiator(ruler).
Other reasons for clan leader voting against: Bad relation with vote initiator(ruler).
