hi folk,
a great mod. I enjoy the quick ramp-up in player-power and renown, the new "in-line" troop evolution and a lot of new stuff inside. The sieges are much more enjoyable, both in defending and attacking. I wear a wondrous dark-milanese plate with dark gauntlets and steel-boots, I look terrific.
I have just taken my throne by playing the easy game. I'll start again a normal game, I guess. Before I do that, here my question.

can I easily re-set the original party sizes? or even smaller? with a small change somewhere in the text files?

my point (a personal point) is time. not that I don't enjoy the big battles, but to eliminate 6500 sarranids takes me really too long an evening...

all the best

You want a game you can finish in 2 days ? Basically if you want to destroy an army quicker, meet it in the field with battle size set to 150. If you have strong troops you will win quickly.

As for army numbers, they are proportional to your level, so you might want to stop leveling.

Well yes, I would like even faster games. I can play more of them.

I do like a lot to have 180 bots around during the battle, I just want to beat the army of 6500 faster. in "easy", they do run, lots of them, then you have to fught them again... you need many many rounds to conclude the battle. This I am trying to change.

perhaps I was misunderstood, I actually don't want to have the mod changed, it is rather a modding question to try to change the mod for myself, to adapt it to my own timing. Hope it is OK to ask here, since I like to play this mod much more than native.

So, how could I reduce the party sizes? (of all parties, not only of mine) there must be a modifier somewhere...
I would aim to have a max-party size at, say, 150, or 200. This way the Hosts with several Lords would not count more than, say, 2000/3000

I hope somebody can/want help me  :)

*bowing*

I think I know how to reduce bandit party sizes, but I couldn't find yet the lord's party sizes. Xeno may know more about this./

I'm pretty sure there isn't an easy text file tweak for that so you must use Module System

There is a script (script_party_get_ideal_size) that sets the maximum party size so if you want to make AI parties smaller you want to change those limits within the script. Try changing them, compile, see what happens. It's trial and error  try to find good numbers for you.
(I'm not sure, but you may need a new savegame to check the effects)

You might also check module_party_template. There are lines that tells how many troops lords get when they are recruiting. You can also change bandit party sizes from there.

thank you both.
yesterday I downloaded the module system and started to have a look at it. Seems complicated  but I'll look there where Tumetsu suggested, I'll let you know if I managed something ;-)

Thank you again!!

I did a little searching and found this. That seems to be for original M&B so I have no idea if it will work with Warband or not but you can try it out. That same guy has lots of other text file tweaks and they may also work though I doubt every one of them do.
Also visiting The Forge and searching "party size" will give you lots of good topics. Lots of people have had that same problem before you.

Don't be afraid because Module System looks a bit complicated. You don't have to understand all of it. If you can figure out what are the important numbers you can do lots of things. And if you start to spend more time with it things begin to look more clear.

Just increase the battlesizer to like 300 where you'll get like nearly 200 a side due to blood and steels increased battle sizer as well. quite epic =P

I Still believe if the reinforcement is set at a quicker place for everyone dead one comes charging to replace it. That way it would keep the intensity no matter how low the battle sizer is.
