A question about sieges - design or oversight?

Users who are viewing this thread

Hey guys,
I have a question about this quite awesome mod. When enemy lords siege my castles and towns, I cannot enter the fray to repel the invaders, that is, I can't enter the battle with my army, I can't even enter the castle. Furthermore, even if I'm present at the location, waiting in the town when the siege proceeds to assault phase, I'm, along with my band, magically kicked out of the city/castle walls and still can't help my defending troops.

I was wondering if I'm doing something wrong, or if this was intended by design? However, as being unable to defend your holdings, save for garrisoning insane number of troops to each and every castle/town you soon won't be able to pay for, will no doubt result in a ludicrously long end game, quite possibly making a large player kingdom impossible, I believe I'm missing something.

So, can we help our troops in sieges?

Sounds like you have a bad install or you're playing with an older version game save.  I frequently enter sieges in progress with no problems.

Thanks Flandy and xenoargh for the quick reply.

I had this problem in the last (as a peasant rev.) and this current version (as a barb). I uninstalled the old Blood and Steel, installed 1.151 fresh and started a new game for my Barbarian but still get this problem. Well, at least it is a technical problem, which means it can be solved..hopefully.

Could it be that I need to re-install M&B altogether? I hope not.

No, it probably just means that the bug affects more than one class- I will be trying to reproduce that, as I haven't seen it myself yet.

For now, I'd suggest fighting the enemy in the field.

Thanks xeno, and thanks for the great work. If somehow I am able to enter sieges with my barb as intended, I will update this thread.

Well, for now, it is up to my Seekers of the Slain horde than .

Hmm, I'll make a barb real quick and see if I can reproduce this, haven't made one in this new version yet

Edit: Just FYI for people trying to test bugs in the quickest manner possible, don't play on the hardest settings   This is taking a little longer than expected, lol

Bump, I'm having this problem with Peasant Revolutionary in 1.151. I read something about updating to Warband 1.131 (which I did) and downgrading the .exe (which I didn't). How vital is this?

I took Uxkhal in an opportunistic move when they had half garrison but now I'm outnumbered 3 to 1. My twohundred elite halberdiers and 100-odd handgonners are a lot less effective during auto-resolve. It seems to be a pretty epic battle though, because I've been waiting outside it for over a day, and the losses on my side are only about a hundred so far. Then again, the enemies have showed no sign of letting up.

That's kind of off-topic though. Point is, I didn't work very hard for my town, but it's still kind of frustrating.  Again, question here is how vital the downgrading is.

This bug was resolved in 1.16.

It isn't necessary at all, it's just something that people who've had major stability issues with Warband since 1.126 have tried out.

Personally, I think that after the changes I made to 1.16, it's about as stable and performance is as good as it's ever been.

That's weird, then. When the siege started, I was in town, and didn't get anything to join the battle. Then I left town, and now when I try to enter it just says the place is besieged by lord whomever, and my only option is "Leave."..

Right. 1.16. My train of thought was something like "1.16 ends in 16, I've got a version that ends in 51.."..Yeah, I dunno how that happened. Talk about a trainwreck. I'll get the new version then.

On a side note, thank you for putting so much effort into this mod, it's the best there is in my opinion.

It ends in 65 actually

The latest version does, but it was fixed in 1.16 and that's what xenoargh mentioned. Still, me misreading or misthinking or whatever was the primary cause.

It actually still happened to me in 1.165, along with my patrols spawning as "player faction" and attacking my caravans, each other, and me.
