A nord invasion as an end-game disaster?

Similarly in mediaeval 2 Total War, The Mongols were just an annoyance in the late game and you could easily predict where there were going to come from and what they were going to do, no matter how much the map had changed. The factions they were supposed to threaten like Russia and the Turks would already have enough control over the region to put them down almost straight away.

Funny you say that, preparing for the epic siege defence against the Mongols was what I lived for

I hated them so much that I would sometimes just use cheats to kill the garrison and then delete how ever many soldiers I thought i would lose. Other than that I would generally avoid sieges altogether if I could. The only mod that did sieges well in my opinion was gekokujo, and that's because it was basically an open gate you would rush through with plenty of openings, and the battle was over in a few minutes.

Honestly if you have ever tried a siege in warband and completed itvwith a lot of units while attacking without falling off you are some god

What you do in Warband is have a majority archer army and you unleash an arrow storm at the defenders then when you, your companions and all your archers run out of arrows (you can use this time where you wait for your men to run out of arrows to go make a coffee, or alt tab out and put whatever youtube video you have playing in the background on the forefront) you either retreat the battle and return with full quivers to kill off the defenders again and rinse and repeat. or after the initial bombardment of arrows you charge in. Attacking in warband was a lot safer than defending and you could take on castles with garrisons 5 times your party size if you had enough ranged and patience. I just yesterday realized I can also do this as Khuzaits in bannerlord. and it's a lot of fun allthough I have a feeling it's taking a lot longer than in warband

You're a more patient man than me, sieges in medieval 2 make me want to kill myself.
Really? Oh no, they are the one thing where everything is neat and orderly and predictable and where I can use the same set up I usually use with mild variations every time. And actually have the time to zoom in to take in the carnage as my pikemen go poke poke poke and the crossbows go yeet yeet yeet and the guns go blang blang blang and the enemy dies in droves or flees and rally's and flees, especially the last rally group is my favorite because whilst they fled I kind of reorganized and as they rally and slowly march to the gate I follow them with the camera to have their perspective and can imagine their horror as they see a bunch of pikes pointing at them in pikewall with handgunners and later arquebusiers in between and suddenly the thunder and small clouds appear in the distance in front followed by bullets arriving and the sounds of pain and horror erupting around me. I can enjoy this all day and sometimes even dream about it. Thee is nothing more satisfying than watching a whole blob of horses and infantry being held in place by pikes when suddenly a hail of bolts flies in to them from the walls, and in fort defense situations a hail of bullets from their flank.

Another favourite thing to do is to take Caernarvon as the HRE when it still rebel, place a fort at a choke point and repel endless English attacks in the fort with a core of Militia pikemen and gwent raiders and welsh longbow mercenaries...

I love it so much that all my armies I build, are built to be city siege defenders, and I will rebuild all castles into cities, and starve out enemy cities and castles instead of charging since my army is well equiped to defend against a sally or even better a relief force. Obviously I have to rely on corner camping though to simulate the wonderful safety of walls.

After years of playing serious and fair I now modded my favourite faction (The HRE) in stainless steel to have the handgunners, pike militia and halberd militia and forlorn hope as soon as the late medieval period kicks in and the building is built instead of having to wait until the game is nearly over and an event triggers that allows those. (Of course the other factions still have to wait, and to just make it fun and "cinematic" I also reduced the AI's likelihood to recruit any form of artillery to almost inconceivable. The HRE also have the easiest to defend forts and I also build armies with fort defense and use in mind, just so I will have a lot of the battles I actually enjoy because there's no annoying outflanking.

I also gave the handgunners the raise spikes ability at one point but that was a bit too crazy especially in siege defense and it rendered my precious pikemen obsolete. So I removed that again to have an excuse to recruit those.

Anyway sorry for the small off topic

How did you feel about Warband sieges where one thousand man armies were involved with, of course, the one ladder?

...And then you played to the endgame where no faction could meaningfully threaten you but there were still two dozen or more sieges to fight out. I got so tired of them I just sent the AI to do them all.

I have never reached that phase actually, I always start a new campaign shortly after forming a kingdom. Only in Bannerlord did I go for a kingdom and made good start and enjoy it but then there was a BETA update and I started a new game. I have a long term plan for my Khuzait game now so lets hope 1.5.3 takes some time

I don't understand how people could play for many hundreds of hours, have their saves and mods obsolete in a matter of days, restart a new game, keep going, restart, repeat, and go on that cycle. Sheer boredom from quarantine I guess? I don't know. What I do know is that M&B is a long term game that is supposed to have many different possibilities, instead of the same linear path every time. Or at least it should, the only full experience in the game shouldn't just be the same path of quester, following into bandit hunter, mercenary, lord, and then king. How many times can you do that before you get bored? I tried playing as a bandit or a merchant in different Warband saves but it just never had that same spark, depth, and replayability. I just wish it felt like it was a wealth of opportunities and pipelines to explore, and something like crazy events like a Nord Invasion and other scenarios would help with that. Probably only will happen in mods or in my dreams.

Baffles me as well. People who say they have 200+ hours in the game already are borderline insane, as far as I'm concerned. I get that we're all locked inside and going a bit crazy but if there's anything I wouldn't want to spend literal days doing, it's playing bannerlord.

meh...Bannerlord rocks if you have the imagination for it  Same went for Warband...Playing as a bandit for that one wasnt the biggest hit on paper but man it was fun if you could get in to your character. Problem with me as in all rpgish games i really like, (had the same in Skyrim) is that i constant came up with really cool ideas in the middle that i wanted to try out and build up and wasnt at all that i got bored which indicates of such replay ability that its insane. Then a new update comes and as mentioned i want to refresh it just to be able to see changes and new problems and such.

It is clear you have never done it then although i am not some sort of massacist who leaves their saves half ways through

Eh, people can play all they want. If anyone is going to find bugs or dumb ****, its going to be the madmen who are willing to clock 300+ hours into an early access game lol.

same here with 800+ hours...300 is just for noobs breaking away from casual  But hey jokes aside i member when 120h on FF7 was a lot for an game back in the day....What games has become ^^

lol damn thats alot of warbanding  but hey its a great game for sure... Think i have some 1k or so but its just because i was doing other random stuff in between at the time applying for the Legion and our team almost won the division playing American Fotball irl
