A new technique or a bug?

Not sure if it is a new thing or I never noticed it before ... but if you block and then attack or attack, get blocked and attack again ... if you time it right you can get a very fast attack past their defenses. The timing is tough to get (for me) but I can recreate the effect without much trouble in the training area.

Is this a bug, a new feature, or a feature that I never noticed before?

It's definitely new, not sure if it's intentional. I noticed it too: You can zap them an infinite amount of times in rapid succession until they let down their defenses. The AI hasn't managed to do this to me yet, I don't notice the game being any harder.

I don't like this ability to strike in rapid succession when he's blocking. It's too unrealistic and gives me too much of an advantage.

Nah, I like this - you just need to adapt your cc tactics.

I think of this rapid-strike after a block as a kind of "counter attack" (which, in theory, shopkeepers would be able to deal to you... ouch!)

A couple of my vaegir horsemen are ready to upgrade, but I'm too low level..
I think I'm getting one of each knight (swadian/vaegir/swordsister/hired blade) and see which is better...

Alright, I've figured it out. I think it is some sort of bug.

The way it works is if you get blocked and then click and hold the mouse button, it will appear as though your weapon isn't ready at all. However, as soon as you release the mouse button, you make this sudden attack that has no delay time.

On foot, this happens much faster. You attack the guy and click the mouse button before the blocking animation is finished, and then you make the 'sudden attack' without delay time. Then you can 'sudden attack' off of your 'sudden attack', and repeat this again and again so that as soon as your enemy lowers his shield or weapon you hit him automatically, then proceed to slaughter him when he's in stun lock.

It's very cheap and guarantees you the kill one-on-one, but when there are other enemies coming at you it's useless. On horseback, however, this is quite devastating because they almost never seem to block it.

I think it would be nice if you could do a quick slash after blocking or being blocked, but only once, and with a damage penalty. The idea being that you're conserving some of the momentum or beginning a slash while blocking with your shield. But the way it is now must be a bug, it is just too powerful. The AI does make use of it too, just not as often. But the AI is godlike with a lance now.

But what if the ghost of version .632 comes and spawns them all just away from the "safe side" of a cliff edge?

hmm. my guess is: animation have to be better implemented into the game. when i reload a crossbow (0.632, so on foot) i can move before when the animation is finished, but reloading is not really finished. so when i stand still again, i will have to reload again (properly).
i know this has been reported before.
wont do any harm to mention this IMO bug again, eh?
