So paradox is going to publish a management game with dwarfs. You got to build a fortress and fight increasingly dangerous enemies.

I do hope they got "skirmish mode" or just a non-mission based mode otherwise i probably won't be buying it.

Looks more Dungeon Keeper than Dwarf Fortress (though yeah, it's obviously at least partially 'inspired' by DF). Should be interesting.

Honestly, if they just sent Toady a dozen guys and said' tell these guys what to do, they'll make an actual decent UI', I'd buy it. Even if it was just the version I have now with an actual decent UI

D'aww their making a Dwarf Fortress style game for the little kids! Isn't that sooo cute.

Dawww, he thinks him playing DF is cause to believe he's better than people. Isn't that sooo cute.

...No, it isn't. Piss off.

So in what way is this not a ripoff of Dwarf Fortress?

That's how game genres evolve. More ripoffs, the better.

So "Dwarf" is the new genre then? Heh, I kinda like it. Action, Adventure, Dwarf, Puzzle, Role Playing etc etc.

And yes, it really does look like Dwarf Fortress for Children. Dunno if it necessarily is a bad thing or not though.

Well it does make it more simple for people to play and it has the graphics that most people are used to. I think the way DF looks is the main reason people get turned off.

That turns away some people, but I'd say a pretty big amount of them get turned away by the UI and the learning curve that requires a space rocket to get over. Also the increasingly mindblowing amount of micromanagement a successful fort needs.

I absolutely despise micromanagement, which is why no one has ever been able to convince me to play DF. I enjoy reading LPs but that's it.
