A Few Questions...

Hi all,

Just got a few questions if anyone can help:

1) I'm now level 15 and I wish to send my Companions out with a little army on their own so they can level up and be like my Captains pillaging and conquering, is this possible?

2) According the the Swadia Troop Trees (http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,49797.0.html) there are some "Cathedral" units I can't seem to access, how can I get them?  I can obtain the Nobles.  I'm currently with Swadia and would love to try out the Blademaster, Master Crusader & Archduke.

3) And something that had me annoyed was when I took over one of the Nordic towns (we are at war with them) and after requesting for me to be the owner, the Queen of Swadia replied saying I have too much property and only gave me 1500 coins!  I have one castle and two small villages so far…any way to increase the limit?

4) Is there any reason to go for a Count other than the Cavalier?  It looks like the Cavalier has the better stats and although the Count has a few points in the Training ability, it doesn't seem to make any difference (after a few tests I done).  I LOVE my lvl 30 companion that I found with training at level 10.  My army gains exp everyday!

5) Also I read I can lead my own Nation, how would I do this?  Would I have to leave the Swadia Nation and conquer a town/castle?

6) Unique items?  I've beaten so many Nord Generals, haven't come across any

Otherwise this mod has rejuvenated my love for this game!

Thanks!

1.Companions are better then the lord
now they follow you only if they have about 80 soldiers or more
here is a warning do not recruit krenit lords they do nothing
it takes a year for them to recruit new soldiers after they lose
i recommend swedian lords about the other I'm not familiar enough

2 you need one from the 4 swedian's Town to get this soldiers[i hope in next realese they will add some towns]

3 i assume that as long that there is a lord in your faction that has no fief he gets it

4 I'm not sure,i prefer the Cavalier

and the day training depend on your training skill
you'd better get kelemvor his training skill is 10

1. Yes. You can speak to them and tell them to form a patrol and if you give them some troops they will level up on their own. You can allocate their experience points when they rejoin.
2. You need to capture a Swadian city. If it's Praven, then it already has a cathedral. If not, you can build one.
3. see this: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,46290.msg1219470.html#msg1219470. Alternatively, rebel.
5. Yes, you have to rebel. The list of features here is pretty informative http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?topic=49800.0

In summary, you need to rebel and all the above points will be resolved  Conquer a nice castle and when they don't grant it to you, rebel!

3) What Josef_the_Pretender said. And if you want a certain town/castle, make sure that every Lord of your faction has the same amount of fiefs. That is at least one. Your chances of being granted your next request are much, much higher this way.

4) Personal preference. The training ability of units other than companions won't work anyways IIRC.

6) You can get a present from your King/Queen once your relationship to that faction, not the person but the actual faction, is +50. Please allow a few days of delivery. And the faction leaders carry some unique items, which you can loot after defeating them in battle.

Edit:
1) This is possible once you're your own King and the companions have to be at least level 20.

I think then if I were to be able to do number 1 and 2, then only way would be to be nationless and attack a Swadia city.  Would this be correct?

But I'll probably wait to get the +50 faction from Swadia before I get this...good idea?

On a side note, I activated the Dark Knights invasion just to see how they are (I disabled it at first through the menu when I first started - "Dark Knights" sounded like a bad dream ), and OMG they are TOO STRONG!  I will wait before when I am further into the game before doing this again

Exactly. To get the Swadian elite troops you need to own a Swadian city. And to achieve this you must conquer one. Which might include a little bit of war.

The gifts aren't that great. Whatever you get, can be looted in a better quality. And since you're going to fight the Swadians anyways if you want to get their elite units...

But it's still better to become a vassal first, fight down the DKs and then rebel. If you start your own faction beforehand, there's a good chance that you will be the first target. If that happens.. good night sweet prince
If you wait however you're going to be at a rather high level, have good equipment, good troops and some friendly Lords.
Preparation's everything if you start your own faction I'd say.

And just to clarify this: if you start your own faction outright, meaning without being a vassal with some fiefs beforehand, it's going to be a lot harder than it already might be. So yes, be a nice vassal first. But not necessarily a Swadian one.
In my current game I'm a vassal to the Nords, yet I field mostly Swadian troops, as I own Suno, Dhirim, Kelredan Castle and the respective villages.

Edit: spelling worse than usual

Really?... Are you sure about that? So, you're telling me that my 40 Archdukes and 30 counts are equally worthless?

OK, I'll make an experiment.

I've yet to see a difference. But as I hardly use them at all...
They seem to die off at the same rate as well

But weren't there posts in the Bug Reports thread which stated exactly that?

Ok thanks for the advice, I may switch to a rival faction to get the Swadia Elite...and I'll probably activate the Dark Knights now!

You'll get your ass kicked the first few times. It usually takes some time to get used to.

Luckily I was at work when I posted, going to play now so will make a backup.

Will activate DK...wait a while for them to get settled...then may just split from Swadia and attack the town alone (I'm already a vassal with them) - REALLY want to try the elite Swadia units.  Would prefer to be with other faction before I attack them, but if the new faction I join doesn't have beef with Swadia, would I be able to Siege Swadia?

You can start your personal beef. Just attack some caravans.
But really: Wait!
Take your time and build up your forces, choose a faction that is at war with them and capture a town. Get a sizeable Garrison, start the invasion, wait till they're now longer a real danger, then rebel*. By then you should already be enjoying the elites from your new cathedral.
Take your time, especially when it's you first time**...

*don't just tell your King you're leaving his service. You will loose your fiefs. Take another castle, demand it, if you don't get it, choose to not accept the decision. You get the castle? Fine, rinse and repeat.
**in before obvious jokes

Had a thought, if you were given a village, and build a mansion to store troops in it. Then leave service, would those troops be in the village forever? Or can the new owner "extract" them? Or can you say at a later stage take the castle which "owns" the village, and be able to get your troops back from the village?

You can't store troops in a village. Not even in a manor.

Oh.. I was under the impression that manors description mentioned something about storeing troops there, never actually built one, but in the current game, I am a slave to... Ve... ivory bow guys, as I am trying to get their bow, but probably taking on patrols with just myself and companions would be easier then trying to build up relations with them, and mistakenly I am now loved by their king. As I mistakenly thought I needed to have good relations with him to get a present... Hmm, probably easier to just loot it.

When your looting skill is high enough, sure.
But when you're already vassal just keep going. It's not difficult to get +50 with your own faction.

Is there any other way to gain faction relations other then helping them fight/taking castles for them? Rarely explored that part of the game, normally I just wonder about until I can take a castle or a town in this mod, and haven't played other mods for a while now .

I think you may gain relation to your faction when doing quests for the Marshall. Scouting and such.
But fighting is more fun
