Hey, my name is Rob. I've been playing this game for a few days now, its awesome.. I've come to the point that i feel like i should create my own kingdom. So here follows a few questions i have.

First i would like to ask a few questions about the game in general.

1. Ladies. I've never interacted ever with a Lady. When do they need a "champion" and what would this champion do?
2. I own a town, this town have a few villages, can I do something with those or are they just there for show?

And a few questions about rebelling.

3. When i rebel, will i be in war with EVERYONE?
4. When i rebel, will i get to keep my town which the king have granted me?
5. In that case, is a town or a castle best to start out with?
6. Is Sargoth a good place to start out from? It feels a little like its in the middle of everything..
7. How much troops should i aim to have before rebelling? I have 315 soldiers in my town, and about 25 in my army. I've got About 10 companions and 76 of these guys are Swadian knights, and the rest are quite good guys to, I have no recruits at least. Would this do?
8. If i can keep what i already own when i rebel, do i want to get another castle/town before i rebel?

Next follows questions about Sieging. (spelling?)

8. Im Swadian. Is it a waste to bring my Knights to a siege since they cannot ride on their horses?
9. Do i want a load of archers? It feels like my archers are quite worthless when i siege...?

Well thats pretty much it, im sure I've forgotten som questions and i will edit this topic with new questions when i remember them. Thanks for any answers and thanks for taking the time to read this topic!

EDIT:

I've got a few new questions..

What do i do with my archers in Sieges? When we are on the wall it seems they believe they are huskarls and goes berserk with their melee weapons... Do i need to tell you what happens with archers going melee?
I've got 4 lords in my town, is it worth to hold on to them even if you lose honor?
What is honor for anyway?
What does the stuff you can build in your towns do and are they worth the price?
Im currently using a "Heavy Lance" and an "Elite Cavalry Shield". Are there better items than those? Where would you get them and what do they cost? Are they worth the price?

Thanks!

2. You can collect taxes and build them up for more prosperity, which in turn gives you more tax cash.

3. No, you will have the same faction standing except the faction you rebelled against will be -40.

4. Pretty sure, I kept mine but I lost a single village that wasn't connected to any castle I owned.

5. Castle.

6. Doesn't matter, all it is, is types of troops recruited and enemies fought.

7. Make sure to have a strong army, a mass of almost any med and above units will be great.

8. Same as 4?

9. Yes, all units help in general. If you have the ability to pick then go for units w/ shields and longbows.

10. Concerning archers in sieges, you can pull them make to make sure they only attack with their bows.

Although his numbering system was off... I think he answered most of your questions. The above quoted ones were not touched on so I'll hit them.

1. Tell your archers to hold position on one of the walls and they'll huddle there and rain arrows down. If at all possible, don't tell them anything at the start and they should default to that attack. If they run out of arrows, they will attack like a normal infantryman. If you're on the attack, order them to hold position out front to give arrow cover to your troops. They probably wont get much, but you might pick a few off.

2. Holding onto Lords is pointless. Once they offer you a ransom... TAKE IT. If you don't they wont ask again and eventually will escape. So if you take them prisoner, don't hold onto them for long. Honor is rather silly in this game... though I did have high honor with one Lord way back when and he defeated me. Instead of taking me prisoner he said he would let me go. A bonus... I guess.

3. Each settlement upgrade does some form of bonus (usually to prosperity which will bring in more money). THere's a few guides here on the forums as to what each one does. Run a search for those.

4. I never much cared for lances... spears are a LOT better as they can be used on foot with ease. You can grab a shorter spear but still have the same effect (couch damage) and still be able to siege with it. Of course, I think having a 1h/2h sword is the best of any weapon in game (coupled with a 1h axe). I believe the Knightly Heater Shield is the best middleground for coverage, speed, and has the highest lifespan. Worth upgrading to. You'll find that later on when you travel and visit these other towns, that they'll all have different gear for you to buy. There's even some hidden gear in a couple of the towns.

Archers in defence of a siege will never run out of arrows.

Holding onto a lord will stop him from raising armies for his faction, and if you're main goal is to eliminate it, then holding him will be worth it. Also, they'll ask for ransom more than once.

Thanks for all your answers and:

But not when you are the sieger?

Thats what i thought.

Am i the only one who thinks archers are a little underpowered?

Basically they need you to do quests, such as defend her honour and free her husband.

If you own those villages, you can build buildings there, and collect taxes directly. Your town will still take in a small percentage of their taxes I think, plus the towns taxes.
Rob. said:
3. When i rebel, will i be in war with EVERYONE?
No, but if you do commit war on someone, you cannot buy your peace, and will have to wait till they declare peace
Rob. said:
4. When i rebel, will i get to keep my town which the king have granted me?
Yes, and the villages, if not previously owned, will become yours.
Rob. said:

Town for sure

It's fine. Don't worry about being in the middle, but regularly patrol your villages to prevent looting.

Thats good. Just use the Knights for field battles, and your best infantry and archers for sieges.

Try nab the castle next to Sargoth.

While I wouldn't go as far as calling it a waste, they certainly aren't as effeciant as they are in field
Rob. said:

You are using either Swadian Crossbowmen or Nord Archers. Both are not as good as Rhodok/Vaegir counterparts, but are still sueful nonetheless.

Have them spread out, hold a position, and fire arrows. If they run out, keep them there as a last resort melee attack.

What is honor for anyway?
Honour is simply how evil or good you are. It is pretty pointless, but changes how companions, lords and such will react to you. It is better to hold onto lords if you plan on destroying a faction.
Rob. said:

Prisoner Towers reduce the chance of Lords escaping and Messenger Posts alert you earlier when besieged. The Messenger Tower is best town far from the border where you will be fighting most. Prisoner Towers should be built.

Thats decent, but you will only need the shield in Sieges, so get a Polearm, such as the Awlpike, for mounted combat. In Sieges, make sure you have a decent one hander, as polearms are hard to use in close combat.

As for this, I'm ashamed you mention such a thing. Archers can be the most dominant troop on the battlefield. Try downloading the custom battle mod, taking 10 marksmen, against say, 10 swadian sergeants, and they will destroy them before they get anywhere near you. Archers, need a good view, and a small infantry force to protect them. Archers with cavalry works too, but requires micromanagement.
