A few observations and questions after giving 3.5 a go

Just got a look at the Demon Chargers with the horns. Nice touch, I will need to get myself one of those...

I would love to see Mount and Blade be able to handle non-standard creatures, I mean, even though it is black and has horns, it's still a horse. Maybe the next version of Warband will handle physics correctly and objects will behave like they actually have mass...now that would be cool. An old game I used to play called 'Die By the Sword' had these trolls that you could fight against or play as, and when they would hit something, it would go flying. Of course that would take a lot of processing power if you are fighting a large battle, so maybe when Warband 3.0 comes out we'll be playing POP 9.3 with all sorts of weird stuff.

Actually trolls that send people flying with their clubs have been already done in The Last Days mod (sig). So it can be done with this engine, you don't need full physics to make a particular special effect.

I haven't played that mod, so I don't know how good of a job it does, but it isn't the same as having a physics model that behaves like objects have actual mass and act appropriately when collisions happen. When you are riding a big horse and a soldier sticks out a spear, you shouldn't come to an instant halt, it just doesn't feel right; there should at least be some sliding. When a charging horse slams into a soldier he shouldn't just fall down, he should be knocked backwards. I don't want to get too far afield with this, the current engine can't handle it, and I'm sure it would place quite a burden on processing power, especially when you use battlesizer to increase the size to 300 or more. I'll be curious to see what Warband or its progeny looks like in another 10 years though.
