Tyreal the Imperishable
Recruit

Having recently become addicted to this game and playing it frequently for the past week or so, I've come up with a few wild and probably impossible ideas to consider for implementation which I will try to keep short.
1. The ability to create your own group of knights, bandits, warrior lodge, etc. I enjoy having an army of 28 Swadian knights. What would be more enjoyable is naming and creating my own band of knights. "The swords of the west" or something.
It's probably a huge task to consider implementing, but is it at all possible to allow the player to create and name their own faction and perhaps even have your actions generate a 'reputation' towards your group of knights/warriors/bandits and treat you in different ways depending upon how your group has behaved?
This would also give the possibility of creating quests for your own group with multiple ways of completing them to determine how you will be viewed by the world. Even if just standard 'good' or 'evil' options.
Another possibility is giving the player the ability to claim their own area of land on the world map and begin building the new headquarters for their group. Perhaps even beginning construction of your own town? You could start small, with building your own castle and perhaps a farmer or two. Quests and the way your group is perceived will determine how many and what type of people may travel to your town to live. If you make enemies, they may launch an attack against your town or begin raiding your caravans.
You could play the corrupt noble and use all the land's money to build a bigger castle and tax your people into poverty, or try to encourage growth. You could also set up a recruitment or training area in your town to encourage people to try to join your merry band of do-gooders or evil types. Again, depending upon how you behave and treat your townspeople and the world in general, you may find heroes popping up in your town wanting to join you.
Having your own town to run and possibly even a castle is no small thing to add into a game. But I think it's worth considering. Maybe even siege warfare defending your castle...
2. Customised banners and standards. Even if the above suggestion isn't implemented, giving players the ability to create and carry their own standards and banners would add something special to the game. You could have one member of your party carry your personal standard, and have banners attached to your lance (or other weapons, although it doesn't really work as well).
You could either have a selection of pre-made banners for players to choose from or design a system that would allow people to create their own banner symbol and colours. If anybody has played Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, you should know what I'm suggesting. That game had an excellent system for customising your army's symbol and colours.
3. Cannibalism. I'm serious. We don't need to have gruesome animations of your party tearing the flesh off still-living prisoners with their teeth (although I wouldn't complain if that was included), but if we can put a horse into our food slot to avoid starving, would it be possible to implement the ability to put a prisoner in there as well? Or even a party member.
Again, your actions could effect your reputation/the way people view your party and cannibalism would likely have you shunned by many but perhaps cause fear into certain enemies and make them think twice about attacking you. It would be fun to play an evil party who not only raids, loots and kills, but also eats the prisoners as well.
4. Evaluating the combat maps again. During combat, lately, I've noticed it seems EVERY map I'm on requires my party or the enemy to have to travel through a river or over a mountain, etc. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. I think it's wonderful how terrain effects combat and it makes certain battles more interesting, but it seems this happens almost every battle. Am I the only one who noticed this? Perhaps I'm just unlucky, or perhaps the terrain for battles gets more difficult as you reach higher levels. The occasional map with a flat area to battle upon would be appreciated.
5. More intelligent AI. Especially with locating the enemy. Having terrain block line of sight is all well and good, but it offers no real tactical advantage either way if you have a party. I considered attempting to ride to the top of a hill to view the map and locate the enemy one time, but realised it's pointless because the enemy always knows where you are and rides straight for you, and you can immediately find where the enemy is by simply looking where your party members are heading. Is it possible to include line of sight for the AI so they have to see each other first? It would offer more possibilities in combat.
I have a few other ideas, but this is already getting too long so I will just add a few small ones.
-I would like to be able to recruit and train dark knights to join my party. I would enjoy playing a band of evil knights.
-This has been suggested before, but it's worth mentioning again, can we have more powerful prisoners sold for a higher cost? A dark knight prisoner should be worth much more than a river pirate slave.
- More quests, more scenery and movement on the maps. Perhaps even faster travel speed in general (it can feel slow when riding from place to place frequently), etc.
Great game. Thanks for reading, if you did. I had a few more ideas but will stop rambling for now. Anyone else think any of these ideas are worth exploring?
