A 90-employee studio with ONE actively-maintained product is releasing only ONE THREE-LINE bug fix patch per week. Unbelievable.

how much communication do you people want? There's only so much you can say about a 3 line hotfix.

Not about the hotfix, you silly hot fox. Communication about game development progression. Things they're working on, trying to balance. The candor of informal communication directly to your audience is gold.

How many people do you think lurk here rather than post? Im guessing taleworlds knows and its probably a dozen or more per active forum member. Many people are looking for the direction the game is going... that desire by your customers should be enough to create change.

I get a lot of successful games, music bands, tv shows go dark when it comes to communication. There's a lot of positives that can come from limited contact. Maybe you dont want developers to have varying levels of focus due to comments. Maybe you dont want them to doubt themselves in a method dictated by management. Akin to a shooter who pulls a shot far left. He compensates for his shot and hits far left again. Mistakes happen but if you adjust your goal for a mistake then everything will be in error. Perhaps they're working on projects that they're having issues implementing or balancing. Instead of giving us possible false hope they just keep quiet till it works. Mystery is also a desirable trait that may anger the active mind but addict the subconscious.

Tldr:
communication in general, not the hot fix.
I can see the positives of being quiet
But it is of my opinion that communication always trumps secrecy. Especially with a unique game like this with numerous variables. Your forum rats are your greatest resource.

90 employee but as far as I know most of them are students since Taleworlds is in a university. about communication, taleworlds always have a problem about communication, they were very very close with their player base in 2010-2012, that is also why they announced bannerlord that early. Now they are trying to be more professional, I get it, they are trying to put a distance between players and developers but this is too much, Taleworlds shouldn't be like Rockstar or EA when it comes to communication

Like squares vs. circles? Why are boxing rings called rings when they have square perimeters anyway?
Because original bare knuckle boxing matches were fought in a circle of men. Same as modern day street fighting is done.

Good post, make fun of him a little bit more as a mod, is really nice to see the moderators keeping the company spirit alive. There is a reason this game went from 248,034 peak players to less than 20k in two months.

Its sad, but in my countries software industry there are some companies like this, who prioritise money over quality product or consumers. You can always tell because they:
Scramble to stay on top of obvious problems
Lack of code reviews allow numerous bugs and unintended side affects into live environment
Maintain bare minimum communication to hide inadequacies

Its a product with amazing potential, I hope I am wrong, but TW don't seem to be changing stride, and the current state of affairs is shameful imo
Edit: clarity

I thought Tork made a good joke.

The reason is based on the game itself and not the minuscule percent of influence forum moderators have.

Wow you're feeble minded!

Now now, let's clear the air. I'm the self-indulgent troll, Kel is just trying to dodge the question about boxing rings being squares.

I do appreciate the thought that forum mods have the power to decimate the player base on a whim, it really gets me my sick jollies, but I don't think that's what really happened here.
