Shrikey

Sergeant
Men went happily to death
But they were not the men
Who marched
For years
Up to the line.
These rode a few times
And were gone
Leaving a heritage of obscene song.

Ernest Hemmingway

What does a Shock Trooper do?

Shock troops, or Assault troops, are formations created to lead the attack.  Military units which contain assault troops are typically organized for mobility with the intention that they will penetrate through enemy defenses and attack into the enemy's vulnerable rear areas.
First established with a distinct role in the mid- to late-17th century, with the introduction of Grenadiers. Even when the original black-powder grenade was abandoned, the grenadier companies and regiments were retained as specialist assault troops. The American Civil War saw units of shock troops fielded by both the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia. The Iron Brigade and Irish Brigade spearheaded many of the Union's most dangerous attacks. For the CSA, the Texas Brigade and Virginia's Stonewall Brigade had similar functions. Between the war's beginning in 1861 and its end in April 1865, all of these elite units suffered heavy casualties with their rolls being eliminated several times over. During the Paraguayan War between the latter and Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina, the Paraguayans would deploy shock troops composed of a mixture of dismounted cavalry and fit men who were able to row and swim, armed with sabres, cutlasses, knives, bayonets, pistols and hand grenades. They were used to attack small, fortified positions and to board Brazilian river steamers

Why should I join?

Because we are new and unique. No other regiment specializes in close quarter combat. No other regiment allows its members to play as any type of infantryman, be it a skirmisher, line infantry guardsman or partizan. Most importantly, no other regiment will have the atmosphere. The excitement of charging down a line of infantry, firing as we come, to then fall upon them with swords, bayonets and vodka bottles. If your a melee enthusiast, or love the idea of bursting through an ordered line as a chaotic rabble, or just want some serious fun, this is the place to be.

In Game

As you may have guessed by now, if you want a disciplined regiment on the battle field, firing by volley and all that, you've come to the wrong place. Here, we do things differently. We encourage our troops to fight as a loose unit, no ramboing, but not a crowded group. In the attack, we will charge the enemy down, often from the side or rear, but sometimes a head on assault is needed. No trigger control? No worries. We'll let you fire as you charge, and so long as you don't fall behind of the assault, it's all cool.

So in short, imagine us as extremely aggressive skirmishers, aiming to get right in the middle of the enemy and then carve our way out again.
