Nec Aspera Terrent​

The 8th Regiment of Foot was formed on 19th June 1685. The regiment formed as the Princess Anne of Denmark's Regiment of Foot during a rebellion in 1685 by the illegitimate son of King Charles II against King James II. It served in many wars such as the war of Spanish Succession, the Jacobite Wars, the American Revolutionary War, the French Revoultionary War and the Napoleonic Wars under the war of 1812. Its motto "Nec Aspera Terrent" means "Difficulties be Damned."
