.710 Mounted Combat

I looked to see if anyone else was discussing this and didn't find any topics that would give that impression.

The changes are outstanding (though I'm hoping the next release will allow Shield skill to affect shield speed, allowing a talented warrior to make quick attacks after lowering a shield).

However.. there's one thing that's really bothering me -- attacking from a mount. It's incredibly counter-intuitive. I have to practically look the entirely opposite direction to attack someone with the correct attack, and the "stabbing" attack comes up far too often (being that it's the most difficult attack to land correctly from a mount).

Am I the only one that really thinks the variance in attacking has made mounted combat far too difficult? (And please don't say I need to get used to it, as I'm fully aware that you can't be good at something immediately.)

Good to start a thread on this. I'm still trying to get things figured out myself with mounted combat...

I found this thread over on the suggestion forum that addresses general issues with the new mouse-click system and how it is counter-intuitive

http://forums.taleworlds.com/viewtopic.php?t=6258

I think it could be applied to this thread too.

For a quick fix, you can toggle the attack system back to the old style whenever you are on your mount. If you get dismounted, pause, toggle it to the new. Not the best fix, but it would work. Or, you can simply abandon the new mouse-attack feature altogether.

I too have noticed this difficulty with mounted combat. the logical solution seems to be that as soon as you mount a horse just have the game auto switch to the old way...

I don't have any clue as to how hard this would be to code but it seems a logical solution for a future version.

Another possibility is that you could have some sort of inversion happen as soon as your mounted (sort of like inverting the mouse but for left-right) so that you swing from the correct side when leaning over to chop the enemy.
