.710 Combat crashing

Hi, I was playing the new release and after I got hit a few times the screen goes white and then crashes to the desktop, no errors appeared before or after the crash. This has happened twice. Also I fought a battle that i lost no health in and the game ran fine, just when I lost health.
 
Hmmm ...

Are you using an upgraded version or a fresh install?

If you are using the upgrade, I would un-install and re-install with the full version as that often helps fix problems like these.

I just reinstalled, and the problems seems to have dissappeared, maybe it was because I kept the old module folder after I uninstalled instead of deleting it, because after I deleted them the problem was fixed.

This is my first post to the board. Frickin' great game.

I'm having the same problem with .710. The game is crashing to the desktop during combat. It's happened twice now during the same fight, in which i'm supposed to capture a nobleman. There are a fair number of combatants in it, and both times it crashed during a particularly chaotic brawl.

My game is a fresh install with no mods on it.
 
I have also encountered this problem.

My previous install had vanilla M&B and Mag7. I used the upgrade install.
 
First post here. I have been playing for about three days (.704) and just did the upgrade. I was in a fight with river bandits and charged with a lance. I saw the red text pop up saying couched lance damage and then it went to white screen and a few seconds later the desktop.

There were probably 5 bandits left, two of them on horse but I hit one on foot.

I got back in and fought the same group. I took a prisoner and went back to town to sell him. I hit "f" on the slave trader and it went to desktop.

I will try a fresh install and report my findings.
 
I'm having the same problem; it seems to happen most often when I'm zoomed in and firing a bow. Tried a reinstall, no difference. I have a savefile right next to a fight such that the fight has crashed three times in a row, if that's of any use.
 
I did the fresh install and it seems to have fixed the problem. I have done a few fights (including the one I had the problem with last time) and encountered no problems.

When I quit the game I got the white screen and a send error report box. Could be related as I had the same box (though I didn't look at the details the first time) when I hit the guy with the lance.

So try and go to the full install. It should help.

Edit: I just read your post Svlad. I guess it might not help :oops:. Just out of curiosity, does it happen when you fire or when the bolt/arrow hits?

When I want to just play the game and the bug will annoy the heck out of me, it happens three times in a row.

When I want to just answer a question and go to bed, it gets intermittent.

Managed to get it to happen two out of four more trials; once more when I was zoomed in and shooting at someone.. unfortunately, I was so close to them at the time that I can't tell you whether it was when I fired or when the shot hit. The other time I didn't even have my bow inhand; it crashed while I was riding around.
 
*Sigh* Even after a fresh install the problem returned. Everything was fine until I got to the third wave of enemy attackers then the screen went back to white and crashed, atleast we know its only confined to combat right?

First off, welcome to the forums to all of these new members! :grin:

Since this seems to be a pretty severe problem that numerous people are having, I'm sure that Armagan is looking into it immediately.

I've noticed that the majority of these crashes are happening on upgraded versions rather than the full install ... so until Armagan is able to get a fix up, I would suggest that if everyone hasn't already ... that they uninstall, delete the mount&blade folder, and re-install using the full install rather than the upgrade version.

Hope Armagan can get this cleared up soon and hang in there everyone.

Yup. Same crash here. Twice in the same battle chasing troublesome bandits. Once fighting a bandit on foot and the other one while mounting a horse. Both on the second wave of enemies, both sides with 25+ men.
On a clean install, full upgrade.
 
It isn't confined to combat, but it does seem to only be while in local maps (what is the term used for combat maps, towns, and all the other walking around area). I got it when trying to talk to the slave trader in Zandar (SP?)

All of my two crashes :roll: happened just after it registered an interaction with an npc or during. Just trying to be helpfull in figuring out exactly where in the code this error is.

I think I will have to play-- er uh, test, more and "interact" with a few more bandits. This time with the fresh install.
 
Thanks to everyone for the detailed bug reports. It will be my first priority to fix this bug, but that can turn out a bit difficult since it's not confined to a particular situation, and it's difficult to guess what may be causing it. Any other details you can give about the crashes will be very useful.
