700 days test e1.0.4 (images) (snowballing)

Just ran a test, and without my interaction this is how the world progressed:

Day 120: Northern Empire gone, Battania pushed Western Empire down to 3 towns and then they did a great come back taking land at the north, Southern Empire took three towns from the Aserai and then peaced out. Vlandia conquered Varched but then lost Sargot and Charas.

Day 180: Khuzaits took Epicrotea from Battania in a flash war, then declared war on Southern Empire, took Phycaon and peaced out as well. Battania conquered Pravend and Galend. Sturgia and Aserai enjoyed of a little of peace.

Day 240: Khuzaits attacked both Sturgia and Southern Empire, the later one also being attacked by the Western Empire and Vlandia. Battania took a few castles from Aserai.

Day 300: Southern Empire gone, Battania declares war on the Aserai and takes Quyaz while Tayl deflects to the Khuzaits.

Day 360: There were a few seasons of "peace" due to all of them fighting either Southern Empire or Nothern Empire, which were gone. After that Battania took Jalmarys and Ortysia from the Western Empire while they were fighting with the Aserai at the south, taking Iyakis, and leaving the Aserai with only 2 towns.

If you all like i could continue, a lot of stuff happened just after that. Sorry for the windows watermark, i am simply too lazy activate it, lol.
 
Thanks for this, so snowballing still isn't fixed then? I haven't noticed a difference on my save, I still see Kings venture out on their own and not a single soldier in their party.

Apparently they simply slowed it down, a definitive fix will require of more time.
 
Appreciate this post -- you said a lot happened after? Does that mean one of the factions still came out on top fairly soon after this?

day 480: Battania conquered Revyl, then Khuzaits took Varcheg from Vlandia, Vlandia reconquered it, finally Battania sniped it. Western Empire kicked horse ass and reclaimed all the land that formely belonged to the Southern Empire... funny how they always manage to come back from the ashes after being bullied down to 2 or 3 towns. Now Western Empire has 22 towns, Khergits 14, Battania 12, Vlandia 4 and Aserai 2 (However they are at war with the Western Empire, so they wont last long.)

This is actually funny, i didnt expect them to stop the snowballing of the Khuzaits... sincerelly i hope one of the landless factions conquer a castle and comes back.

Varcheg is literally Dhrim rn, constantly changing of hands.

looks like world conquest wont be over by 1090, so working? Well you can continue until 1091-92 to see what happens.

Clearification about one improvment:

Clan and Party
  • After some time during a campaign, some lords were remaining without troops in their party because of financial problems and constantly being harassed by bandits. Lords now manage their finances more effectively and take troops from garrisons if they are at risk of going bankrupt. This was one reason for the snowball effect in the campaign, with kingdoms being eliminated too easily.
This was one of the main reasons of snowball efect (one kingdom ruling all world) but there are still another reasons causing this and we continue working on this to make more balanced world without decreasing number of hostile actions happening in world.

In first 1.0.0 one kingdom was ruling all world in average 1088-1089
In 1.02 average go up to 1090
In 1.04 average is now rised up to 1092

There are still problems and still we cannot guarentee one kingdom will not rule all world without player interaction however in every patch we will develop this area and soon until 1100s you will not experience this.

Yikes, okay. Looks like Aserai and Vlandia are about to kick the bucket fairly soon then, and it'll be a war of 3 fronts. My money's on the Empire at the moment, wouldn't be surprised if they eat up Battania next.
 
Snowballing seems still there. I played a new game today and battania is rolling over the map
 
I'm convinced at some point the game needs to inject bailout to seriously losing factions. Not too often and obviously should just be enough for the losing faction to regain some, not all, footings.
The game map definitely needs to change even without player intervention -- taking advantage of a weakening faction to acquire vassel ship and land would is both a good gameplay strategy and also narrative device -- but losing a faction around turn 120? Probably before I, the player, ever get to fight against it once? Well to me that's just underwhelming.
 
Definitely needs work, also the faction are just too aggressive. Is there a period of time where there is truce? Factions seem to be declaring war left and right as well.

There was a long while without wars, but that was due they warring war against landless factions (Southern Empire, Northern Empire and Sturgia)

1091- day 569: Empire has 31 clans (Khuzait 13, Battania 10, Vlandia 8.) allowing them to fight on a fronts, all hail Garios rightful son of Calradi.

Battania is being beaten on both fronts by the Empire and Vlandia. Vlandia is doing awesomely good, they have taken almost every castle around Vlandia and Battania, only leaving the towns to be conquered. Aserai lost one of their towns and now Sanala is everything left.
Karakhergits keep capturing Khuzait Lords all the time, i guess this is around the time they take over LOL.

I guess that every single clan that was beaten by the Khuzait early on joined the Western Empire, thats the reason of their power.

Edit:

1092 - Day 652: Empire conquered part of Khuzaits, almost pushing them to their original shape, and now made pace, so the Empire focused on Battania.,, it will be funny if Aserai and Vlandia make it to the end.

LOL, when the empire didnt have anything else to conquer they declared war on my landless clan.

I wonder if the lack of food for the garrisons of castles and towns contributes to the snowballing. Perhaps many garrisons are surrendering because they lack food.
 
day 401 for me my map looks like this mind you i joined south kingdom (around day 260 - 300) moments before they lost there last castle and city, when i was looking for the empress, she still had a city when i finally caught up with her to join she lost the city then the castle 1 or 2 days later

as iv read up some people have found out the issue also stems from the lords losing their gold, witch they use to build up a army but also lack of food as well i think. before i married Ira she was always on 0 troops because everyone was wounded after finally marrying her i was able to filling her ranks and get her to join my army i seen a message popping up about me "shearing my food with staving troops" witch im gona guess the gold isn't just for their recruitment but also food supplys with out both they cant build up a army or even keep 1 to defend them selves witch ends with them having no way to attack back or heal up

Yeah I've got this glitch too. Was testing out the snowballing by passing time and then suddenly my character is at war with the world.

Just happened to me too, I was testing and happened to look at my clan screen to find I was at war with the Khuzaits. I never left the starting town from day one so how is that possible? :wink:
 
Factions in warband could be "re-founded" after they were defeated, right? Or was that just part of the mod (Floris mod pack) that I used?

Basically, if a faction was defeated, the lords joined the various other factions and left Calradia. Lets say Swadia was defeated. One of the Swadian lords joins the Nords. After some time, the ex-Swadian lord is given a fief by the Nord king and decides "MAKE SWADIA GREAT AGAIN" and defects from the Nords, founding Swadia again and all the exiled Swadian lords pop up in his fief like "YEAH TIME TO CREATE A KINGDOM AGAIN".

I feel like this should really happen again. One clan decides "It is time to make my own kingdom / re-create my former home #patriot", rally his clan, gather some men, defect from his current king and bring back the exiled lords. The exiled lords should spawn with some money and some soldiers (representing patriotic peasants being rallied to the banners of their true rulers and exiled knights picking up arms for their homeland) so they have a chance at conquering more land so that they can get a proper economy going and pay for future military campaigns.
 
That's not snowballing anymore. Any of it. It might need some balancing and tweaks, but it SHOULD be somewhat dynamic. I don't want a static world only *I* impact... I like to fight a tide and turn it, or gang up and end the world quickly.

Nah that's definitely a mod thing. Factions gone in WB are gone for good.
