Edit: Working fine now The problem was with my firewall. I thought I had checked it earlier, but it seems that my memory is not what it used to be.

Useful things would be:

1. Specs : Operating system. Any hardware that has changed since it was succesfully running (even drivers?)

2. M&B version. When did you update to the latest version (if you have)

3. Any kind of error messages or similar prior to this occuring

4. Do you mean opening the game, or loading a specific save game?

Well, I downloaded the newest version, and it didn't work either. What the damn should I do?

Age of Wonders certainly doesn't screw up M&B

Couple of things to try. Firstly, install the latest drivers for your graphics and soundcard. If you have no idea what they are, go to start, select run and type dxdiag. Hit enter and the direct x diagnostic tool should appear.
The display tab will list all information about the graphics card. Take note of the version number of the driver, and the manufacturer and name of the card. Sound does the same, except for the soundcard.
The latest drivers for the hardware will usually be available from the manufacturers site. Assuming it isn't something obvious, google should help find them.

Secondly, make sure you have the latest direct x version, downloadable from Microsoft's website.
