518 renown, only 3 fiefs, a castle and two villiges, yet I am denied the fief?!

How come King Harlus won't give me Tulga as a fief? I took it all by myself and my men, I have 518 renown in fact King Harlus is in the friends list.  I have only Rebache, Burglen and Radoghir Castle as fiefs but King Harlus gave Tulga to Lord M**** (can't spell his name).  Did I miss something here?
When I broke alliegence I din't keep my castle, and that is illogical since keeping my castle are my loyal henchmen, I would go so far as joining an enemy king if I had to.  And if anybody tried to take my castle I would make him sorry! I don't want fiefs I want land that is MINE!
For this reason I want to be able to overthrow the King, I am a Swadian, not a Harlusan.  I would take the throne and anybody who challenges me would have to challenge me in person!
Anything I conquer should be mine.

Because if one of his lords gains too much power there is danger of him losing his throne.

If all the lords are kept fairly equal, they will keep themselves in check.

Although admittedly he has worse things to worry about than one of his lords usurping him. After the Nordic invasion it is only a matter of time. He already lost one capital, after all.

Bah! I took on 200+ Nords with King Ragnar himself, I had 20 Swadian Knights.  All I lost was 4 men and wiped them out.  All I went to do was scout.

He is NOT good, I put MY life on the line so I bring down the Khergits and he can't reward me with a moldy town in the desert?  I practically took Tulga by myself!

I put my life on the line, I expect to get paid.  I saved his worthless life from Rhodoks countless times, I asked for only Tulga and Radoghir castle and I have 518 renown, and I don't get Tulga.

Defeat Kings or parties larger than yours.  I still wanted Tulga.

No, don't, I got 18 renown in a battle with all my knights, it was just that king Ragnar was on the other side with 150 against my 60 men, so I got 18 renown for every faze of the battle, 30 Nords on each and no casualties of mine, without cheating.

Indeed. Too bad I said "Hm 5 vs 208! This will be FUN !" I hate nords, and I hate those crappy axes that hit my horse for 20+...

Anyway, on topic. I besieged Tihr, and saved when the garrison was down to 16 men. Took it, asked the king to give it to me. He didn't. "OH YEAH? WELL, F**k YOU!" and I quited without saving. The next (real life) day, I went looking for some battles to increase my renown. I got it up to 400. and I said "Oh yeah, Tihr will be mine now!" Went back to face the 16-men garrison, made them surrender. Asked the king for Tihr and tada! "...but Tihr I give to lord Falsevor".

Quit without saving again >_>

Anyway, the next day, O took Sargoth, asked for it and got nothing. Then, went to Tihr, took it, and... YEAH. He gave it to me.

Now I have 600 renown, and I'm waiting to take Khudan or Curaw (I love snowy cities), and ask for it.

Exactly what happened to me, I quit without saving, Tulga has 25 men and Khan has -6/3 or (something like that), and I am not taking the city until he gives it to me, maybe tommorrow I'll go to 1000 renown (by butchering Nords or Bandits) and see if that satisfies Harlus, he calls me his loyal champion but he won't give me a desert hill of sand.  Maybe I should follow your advice and go besiege some cheap piece of real-estate and make Harlus think I want it, then go back to Tulga and ask for it and hope he gives it to me.
I am tired of being a vassal, want to be king.  M&B should give you that option.  It could be done the same as with William the Conqueror. William the Conqueror was a Ba****d, I am an unknown adventurer.  William takes possesion of his father's lands and becomes a noble, I become a well known skilled warrior with a band of desperadoes and I get to be a noble, the lord of a burnt out village in the front lines.  William worked his way to the throne, using the sword when needed, so can I.  Maybe king Harlus passes away and they make some nutcase king, I can overthrow him like William did to Harold the Saxon.

P.S. Do any of you think the "honor rating" helps?  I have 3000 honor points, which means I did not accept the money once on the "hunt down bandit" quest.

Not only renown matters. For example when you are being hired by the king you need to either have 160 renown or have renown+5*(your relation with king)>160...

This means that to get more fiefs, increase your relation with the King - if he doesn't fear you as an opponent, then he'll give you fiefs...

I hold only Curaw and Chide, yet that stingy whelp Yaroglek gives every castle I capture to another lord! Many of them already own multiple castles, as well as a village or town. Why not I?
