SP Antiquity Dark Ages 485AD Darkness Rising

Users who are viewing this thread

Hey found this on the german board, looks good.

I'm a big fan of Brytenwalda which is a similarly dark aged based mod so I eagerly await news on this.

Tschuss!

I promised a screenshot of this helmet a little while ago. It's in the game now and looking good, so here it is.
I shall credit Sayd Ûthmann for this helmet. Thanks for your help, as you know it's much appreciated. I hope there will be more items of yours....and yes, there are already more and I will make screenshots soon.

The second picture is nothing special. You can see what can happen if you just let the new AI do its job.

Looks terrific! Have tried to stave off my hunger for some Dark Age fun with IB2 for Medieval - Total War 2, but it just doesn't cut it. Fortunately, 485AD seems to be well worth the wait. Keep up the good work!

First of all thanks again for your kind words!

After having a nice long party yesterday I tried hard today to get another thing done that's on the to-do-list but totally failed. It went one step backwards instead because I discovered a game crashing bug when playing on autosave. I have no clue at all what could be causing this so I guess I'll just try another approach.  :???:

I've been busy lately doing stuff for Shadows in the Desert so I am afraid I can't come up with great news. Well, it's not really true since the first roman buildings are done and there are more to come. I guess you may expect to see some hopefully nice screenshots about the first roman scenes soon.

So, no screenshots for you today but a crappy video instead. It's what happened to me and my Alemanni mates when we moved into the eastern roman realm until I got captured.
Honestly, don't expect anything special! It's just for fun and for you to see some moving action and my total lack of skill instead of a screenshot.

You have been warned. Enjoy if you can: Too deep into the eastern roman realm

@Sayd let me bother you with this helmet once more.
May I ask you to add a neckguard to the helmet once you have time again. It kinda looks too weird without hair. I think a neckguard will nicely solve the problem the other way round. I know it was me who asked for a helmet without a neckguard but seeing it in action and all the time from the back changed my mind.

We are, aren't we?

The game crashing bug hid well but was found and this world was freed of its fiendishness.

dia_151 retextured some models and earns the credits for the tunics seen above.
I've been working on scenes as you can see inside the following spoiler.

All the while I am eagerly waiting for more work from fellow contributors to continue.

Even though the sandpeople from SitD kept me busy I still try to keep things moving.

For your information:

I never stopped looking for help from
texturers,
modelers
or sceners.

I've been told I don't give away much information about the mod so I stopped wondering and waiting for a reply.
And right in the first post I said 'It is about all the headbashing until you get to know the 'who is who?' in Europe...' so I guess there is not much left you need to know but may be the download link.

To provide that link without having to wait for too long is what I am still working on. It's pretty much all I can do besides keeping you updated about the progress and to show some screenshots of the awesome help I get from people all around.

With this having said I ask to forgive me triple posting.

So let me tell you about the progress that has been made:
I worked in a quest that requires several steps to be solved and should take a while until it gets done. This way there is something to care about next to who and where your enemies currently are. It doesn't turn this game into a roleplaying game though but this would be one of the last things I want. I might have a different definition for a RPG though.

Besides this. I am still eagerly waiting for the new sceneprops to come to be able to provide enough new places for the player to explore and give him the impression that he might miss something if he doesn't take a closer look. As soon as this point is reached I can think of releasing a beta-version.
A beta, of course. Nothing is perfect.

So, in the end it's the same old story like in posts before. Scenes are what I can do and what's left to be done besides the models.
Luckily I don't need to learn modeling as long as I have these really nice and competent helpers around me.
I am talking all the time about me and 'my mod' so let me get this straight. It's not. It's hours of work of many. Thanks for your time and efforts! I am glad to have you all around.

So here are some screensshots for those who need pictures and to show you what I was just talking about.

Some helmets of Sayd's new collection of helmets. Bitten by the perfectionist's bug he already told me they are getting overworked again but they already look very nice if you ask me.

And a very nice roman villa from Kuauik.

With only a few more buildings of that kind I would be ready to present you the battlements from ntb_15 in a proper environment.

I realy like the new settlement icons. ntb_15 did a realy good job with them
I should abuse him more for 1257 myself

It's probably a wise thing to hold down any expectations before you actually play it.
Can't... hold..... the.... expectations.... grrrr

Anyway, I'm still waiting for that promised storm.

Sacred swampy places...

Some abstract figures from Beobart

He never showed up or left a message after working for 1257AD.

You abused and dumped him or why is that so?

*Shows up*

Hehehe, actually i have been playing a lot of EU3 lately. The only modeling i have been doing for sometime has been making (trying) new trees for kuauik. So blame him .

Just kidding, i think i will probably finish trees for kuauik today or tomorrow and i will continue with the houses after that .

That roman villa from kuauik looks awesome.

and the barracks he sent me today as well. Just to let you know.
btw the house is accessible, you can walk in,can you show me how it looks in game? that chapel too,you can post it on your secret forum if you like

Haha our secret forum, ritter do you want me to just increase the size of the bugged helmets ?? or you want me to do "others" things

No, I don't want you to do the things of others:wink:
Whatever you like, there are enough things to do if you look inside our 'not so secret anymore'- forum.
May be a change could raise your motivation, may be a perfect helmet is what motivates you. It's your decision.

Yes, the circumference could be a little larger to show there is some metal and no paper on the head. I guess if you scale them larger it wont't hurt if their height increases as well. If you watch videos where you can see these helmets in action they are often very high almost ridiculously high.
