Probably something wrong with your SubModule.xml. Make sure the Id is the same as the folder name, if you have a dll make sure you have the correct namespace and class for SubModuleClassType
Delete everything in the folder except for the SubModule.xml, if you still crash something is wrong with the xml. If you don't crash, add the other files one by one till you find which one is causing it.
