The prices of slaves needs to be increased.

I get about 120 denars for knights, I think average troops should be more around 100-125 and elite units like knights 250.

That way you can make a small fortune from prisoners. If I capture 20 prisoners after a big battle I get around 1,500 denars, and I usually only get that many from battles with like 200.

I think it could be exploited if this were the case, in my experience if you use a blunt weapon only army, and level them up, you can make a very decent amount of money. The blunt troops are weaker on the whole so it's tougher getting top level ones(at least it was with manhunters, not experienced Slavers in 4.5 yet) but once you have a top level blunt army you can make some good coin.

I think you mean when ransoming because price of slave is fixed.  But I agree with above poster.  The Zerriks also use a lot of blunt weapons so the price should not be increased, especially since we get high prisoner count without having to invest in skills.  If anything, it may need to be reduced.

You can make a ton of money just hunting down large looter parties and bringing them to the Slavers.

actually u cant looters are worth 14 or something a head so uwould actually loose money while hunting em down because troop slaries are more (starter party costs around 3k g a week) 1 castle 4- 6k gold more) but mountain bandits and sea raiders r actually worth whacking

They ransom for 14. The slaver in Tihr pays 50 a head regardless of rank.

whos not at war with those yellow bearded...

To get coin early, with my trade-enabled character:
Run around Vaegir land and stop at all towns and villages looking for furs and iron (if cheap).  Run down to Rhodok land towns and sell (usually at more than one town, since they run out of cash quick).  While there pick up any cheap velvet.  Run over to Khergit land to get salt and spice (unless you don't want to confront huge Pilgrim parties).  Run back up to Vaegir land and sell the velvet (or at Tihr if they are tapped out), salt and spice.  Rinse, repeat, with an occasional trip to Suno for oil.  In one mod my character made 3,000,000 denars this way.  The best part is, if I take Jelkala and Rivacheg, I'm trading between my own cities.  It's not bashing heads, but all slashing and no selling makes Jack a dull boy...

I almost never buy equipment for my party - that's why there's Sea Raiders.

As for slaves, I find it much more profitable to recruit high level troops than to sell them.  And low-level troops are hardly worth selling.

It helps to have good trading and large inventory control.  Save some space for battlefield pickups after taking on various groups in your travels.

I've never really taken slaves or traded for money. I tended when I first began the game to loot villages, but then I began to feel bad about it. ANymore I just fight in tournaments.

I am a serial looter... they really should make some sort of negative to that -- like loss of honor or something because it's practically all I do for money other than tournaments.

well thers the fact that u could get caught "red handed" (king bugger comes with 300+ troops and ur looting so u cant run "villagers join battle" = some sort of negative
(and yes im looting all over the place cause its the only way to keep bank balance on the + side)

Actually, I consider that to make it easier.  Anyone wearing anything heavier than the lightest armor doesn't really take damage from farmers so their troops become diluted with a bunch of weak troops that fall in 1 or 2 hits.

Well there is negatives when you retire and the fact that those villages hate you and you will not recruit many from them.  The fact we get the majority of our troops from homeland or mercs is another story.

Lol
I see you are enjoying the new item variety!

Take a decent force of about 40 cavalry (fast, and efficant against larger numbers)

And start raiding vilages. Get in there early before everyone else raids em and the wealth goes down.

U can make like 5k+ a village easily, and u use that to get a town, then get some elite troops, and then BAM. u can face the best armies (with the right army tactics) and get some real good drops to sell

Get about 35 elite/veteran cavalry and start killing sea raiders. Less units you have better loot you will get(which is stupid IMO). With 10 trading I was able to get 70k in one week.

Yep, this works pretty well for me. Solid, small force of companions and cav can rip up Sea Raiders pretty well, and the gear is good cash. High trading and looting is essential, of course. Then again, I find pumping CHA for leadership (lower troop costs) and trade (better prices all around) to be very useful.

Don't forget about the boar clan (a mini-guild) in the Southern areas.  They are slightly stronger than sea raiders and thier equipment is better.  Will be more of a challenge and better rewards.

Making more money in the arena would not be a cheat. I think that the vanilla bets in the arena are too low. Some mod already increased money betting in the arena and so I did in SoD. I just set the bets to 1000 - 500 - 200 - 100 and it works fine, without compromising the gameplay hardness.

I think there are no other ways to make more money because I think SoD is just balanced (prisoners ransoms, lords quests atc.)
... just a little bit of money in the arena and the game is really enjoiable!

Um, if you win a tournament in native (and SoD) you get about 4k.
That is plenty of money IMO.

I suppose it could be like 10k.

4k dosnt cover the time lost while walking to town ^^ (weekly salary 13 500 gold with 3 castles ^^)

Your castles bring in 13.5k per week? With the new changes, I haven't figured out how to make 1k per week with a town yet...perhaps once they are all built up, they will be better, but right now I can't make money.
In Invasion 4.1, I had no problem making 150k+ per week with 5 or 6 towns, now I am broke all the time
