Was looking into ways to keep Artimenner and Jeremus as a part of the team. Surprisingly, I found a stable 9 person configuration in doing so. This is what I got:
1. Artimenner
Engineer: 4
Trade: 3
Tactics: 2
Tracking: 1
Spotting: 1
2. Jeremus
Wound Treatment: 4
Trade: 3
First Aid: 3
Surgery: 3
3. Lezalit (Supports Ar)
Trainer: 4
4. Firentis (Supports J)
Trainer: 1
5. Ymira
Trade: 3
First Aid: 3
Wound Treatment: 1
Surgery: 1
6. Alayen (Supports Y against Ar)
Tactics: 1
7. Rolf (Independent Pair R & Ba)
Tactics: 2
First Aid: 1
Surgery: 1
8. Baheshtur (Independent Pair R & Ba)
No initial skills, but could be a good fighter and trainer.
9. Borcha (Loner excluding Kl and D)
Tracking: 3
Pathfinding: 3
Spotting: 2
This gives you two of the most intelligent starting npc's right off the bat, as well as a good deal of redundancy if anyone should be wounded
