I'm not really sure why this happens, but for some reason, the 3D grass affects my mouse sensitivity. Normally, I play the game with the sensitivity slider to about 60%. When I enter an area with 3D grass, however, it goes crazy, and I have to move it all the way down to 25%. The grass also lowers my FPS, but it's still around 30, so it's playable. I don't know why the increase in graphics processing affects my mouse, though.

I've turned grass off myself, because it seems to create a 'lag' on my mouse. control is sluggish and doesn't respond immediately.

I had to turn it off as well - was dropping my FPS significantly. I thought that was the reason I could not aim or fight - but perhaps it is also effecting mouse sensitivity as well.

Rain was also really killing my FPS initially - but for some reason it does not seem so bad now.

I wish I could update my VidCard drivers, but HP made the zd8000 VidCard proprietary somehow, so ATI isn't allowed to update it. Leave it to HP to do something so moronic. Of course they aren't going to update it until their backs are against the wall and no more games will run on it. Even then, I don't think HP could create a working driver for an ATI card if their lives depended on it.

When M&B goes gold, I might actually purchase a desktop just to play it with 3D grass and 40+ troops.

Anything that lowers your FPS also increases your mouse sensitivity...
I can't play with 3D grass as well, and my PC is quite good..

You can turn off grass in Options.
Turning off shadows helps too (and the shadows in M&B are ugly.. they move slower than the real object o_O)
