SP Antiquity 300/Battle for Thermopylae mod ported

Since it didn't look like anyone else was going to, I ported this mod to 1.011 as best I could. For those of you who played the older version, I regret to say that I only managed to port the arena mode, and not the full Thermopylae battle. (But I'm working on it, don't you worry.)

Apart from the arena mode, there are three custom battles that have been changed, and one of them is the battle at the pass of Thermopylae. (On a smaller scale, though.)

As an added measure, I kept in my weapon testing part so you can go about Calradia and find some of the Persian/Greek items in shops.

In no way are these codes, models or textures mine. The original mod was made by:

Highlander
Roborob
Merlkir
nihilocrat
Talon

And credits to
The NE development team for spear bracing
Mirathei for formations and shield bash
Chel for his abilities scripts
Lumos for his Mission Template compilation

If you find any bugs, you could report them, but they probably won't get fixed.

Features:

    * Fight at Thermoylae Quick Battle
    * Original mod's "arena" fight is still in
    * Sadly, no rhinos
    * Grenades don't work properly
    * Spartan (movie Spartan) equipment
    * Persian equipment
    * Immortal armor has been replaced by temporary models due to incompatible BRF file
    * Three new Quick Battles
    * A few new(er) troops
    * Shield bashing
    * formations
    * spear bracing
    * Chel's abilities added
    * new(er) items

File History:
0.2: Added the quick battles, fiddled around with the items and added a few more, added Mirathei's formations, Merc&Jinnai's spear bracing, Mirathei's shield bash and Chel's ability scripts

Source is included.

The arena mode was the one where you fight people in a circle right?
Yep.

Been doing some work on the other one, but it still crashes. I'm making a Quick Battle alternative though, which is working splendid. (I have yet to sort out the entry points, but other than that...)

Good work! Didn't download it yet, but I try it later.

I have an idea. Ruthven, why don't we make a club and port some of mods from older versions? I don't want to touch Storymod, RPGmod and any very big mods.
I'm an experienced porter. On my account I have:

- LOEY from 0.894 to 0.903
- LOEY from 0.903 to 0.960
- Return of Zendar from 0.960 to 1.011
- Arena Expansion from 0.751 (!!!) to 1.011 (it was included in RoZ)
- Custom Battle mod from 0.960 to 1.011
- Well, nearly ported Hero & Blade from 0.808 to 1.011, but there were some critical bugs, so I didn't release it.

What do you think?

Whoa, that's a lot of mods you've ported. But yeah, porting stuff is actually pretty fun and not too difficult. And it looks like FeriadITA won't be porting Dark Age: Viking Raiders, and that mod is something I'd really like to see in the new version.

Anyways, in the 300 mod, the Free Fight Mode isn't working, at all. So, I changed up a quick battle and now it's almost exactly the same.  :grin: I might have to add newer formations though, as I don't think Highlander's old ones work...

dude, u are the man, i just played the arena mode for like 3 hours....

this is so much better with the improved graphics of the latest version :grin:

But i didnt talk about normal gameplay ..... i was talking about never ending battle with Persians at the hot gates .... Where is it :sad: ?

This is the mod Ruth's porting: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,21836.0.html

Check that for the features list.

By the way, just for the people who don't know what porting is:

From Wikipedia (not very reliable, but it serves its purpose).

"In computer science, porting is the process of adapting software so that an executable program can be created for a computing environment that is different from the one for which it was originally designed"

In this case, the new computing environment is Mount&Blade 1.011, and it was originally designed for Mount&Blade 0.808.

So can someone tell me where is the "never ending battle" in this version ???

I don't think it's in there yet, which was kind of disappointing since that was the only reason I ever played the 300 mod. I'm pretty sure Ruthven is working on it right now though.
