So gave companion troops and created party ..then they just took off to do their own thing..can I give them orders or have them do certain things like patrol my kingdom? Or what do I do here

i was wondering myself. I think the only way to control their movements is to create army with them. But I might be missing something.

That's it. If you can have only for example 100 men, create compagnion troop with 100 men, get your 100, create army with your joining compagnion, and then you have an army of 200

Several points:

1. My companions can only command 65 men. I think they would require stewardship skills to command more.
2. In order for them to join you in an army they MUST have 40% of their maximum army size or you can't ask them to join you.
3. They spawn on the map with 20 random troops. You don't pay for acquiring these troops but you will pay their wages.
4. When you despawn their army again, they will travel to a clan held castle or town even if it is on the other side of the map.
