The Flankeur Compagnie, 27ste Nederlandse Jäger Bataljon is a Dutch Jäger regiment with a broad and versatile approach to combat, allowing us to react to a wide variety of situations on the battlefield. Due to FSE's decision not to implement the Kingdom of the Netherlands as a playable faction in-game we have opted to vary between playing British rifleman and French voltigeurs. As Jägers, our primary focus is to counter line infantry and other skirmishers off guard, pinning them down and preventing them from retaliating until the arrival of the rest of our team. With our players coming from a wide variety of backgrounds and having proven themselves in a variety of different circumstances, we like to consider ourselves one of the better skirmisher regiments in Napoleonic Wars.

Volunteer of the 16de Jägers,1815. | The Battle of Quatre-Bras, 16th June 1815 The 6th Flankeur Compagnie of Kapitein De Crassier saw considerable action in 1815 when Napoleon, in the midst of the Hundred Days, returned to France from exile and advanced into the southern Netherlands with a force numbering near three-hundred thousand strong, leading to the formation of the Seventh Coalition and the Waterloo Campaign. It was on the 16th June 1815 that the Dutch troops under Wellington's command held the crossroads at Quatre-Bras against a superior French force; preventing Field Marshal Ney from capturing them for some time. It was at this time that the 27ste took position close to the crossroads, making one last counter-attack prior to withdrawal. It was at this time that Lt-Col Grunebosch was injured, and command fell to Kapitein De Crassier of the 6th as the most senior officer present. The 27ste withdrew with the rest of Wellington's forces in order to consolidate their forces on more favourable ground to the north along the road to Brussels as a prelude to the Battle of Waterloo. The Battle of Waterloo, 18th June 1815 With the onset of the Battle of Waterloo, Kapitein De Crassier's company found itself in situe with the rest of the Dutch forces. To their misfortune, the Dutch forces were earmarked as a target by not only French artillery but a considerable attack on that part of the Anglo-Allied lines as well by numerically advantaged French forces, against which they held against temporarily before retreating. In the midst of this retreat, however, the British infantry and cavalry arrived to engage the French force, restoring order to the battered Dutchmen and throwing the French into complete disarray, capturing a great many prisoners in the process. During this engagement the 27ste were involved in numerous counter-attacks, maintaining a lively rate of fire against the French despite the battering they had taken. Ultimately, as a result of repeated Anglo-Allied counter-attacks and the failures of Napoleon's forces under Marshal Ney and Grouchy the day was won, and the Dutch forces found themselves marching on Paris with the rest of Wellington's army. |
