2016 U.S. Presidential Elections: The Circus Is In Full Swing

When people ask for proof of Trump's racism I usually like to let him speak for us.

Although usually it doesn't matter, since people who make that kind of comment will deny any evidence you present them anyway.

People usually have an idea of racism that cannot exist in the real world. No amount of evidence will meet their standard because taking a picture with the caption "I love tacos ??" automatically invalidates any possibility of xenophobia anyway. Checkmate libs. ???

Personally, I don't think Trump is xenophobic just because of his speech -- although his speech is correlated to the cultivation of xenophobic sentiments and actual attacks (there are bodies of research that refer to it as... ''the Trump effect'') -- but because of what he does. Things like the Muslim ban, the separating children from their parents as a disincentive for legal Mexican immigrants, the refusal to acknowledge black concerns, the inital reluctance to come out hard against the ****ing KKK????, the actual racists and questionable people he surrounds himself with, and probably many more things. It's smarter to look at a body of evidence to make these determinations. Just accusing someone (even Trump) of racism even if they said something ehg is not a good idea, imo.

I mean the same standard applies to Joseph "I love Latinos because my ringtone is Despacito" Biden.

Arguing whether or not trump is racist or xenophobic or sexist or whatever is semantic liberal nonsense anyway and won't convince anyone, and it's also pretty condescending to think Trumpists are stupid enough (although they are very stupid) to have not considered any of this stuff before. As R**s just said the people you're trying to convince will only perceive something as racist if it's literally a disembodied fist levitating above Baltimore and crushing black people every 2 seconds while it explodes heads with a high frequency N word.

As with all ideologies the best way to defeat it is from within, and a lot of evangelical drumphth supporters genuinely have no easy answer to the fact that he is viciously anti-Christian, or that he has a whore for a wife, or that he is anathema to the idea of the family, or that he is making America into a laughing stock. If you even just use the language of Evangelical Christianity to criticise Trump, you're breaking some of the ideological spell.
What's a lot harder though are the people who only care about stocks and taxes, because Trump is genuinely beneficial for them, in a way. My 23423423423rd cousin in New York just came out as a Trump voter, and no matter how much my Christian Socialist grandmas shouted at him, his answer that "He will keep my money safe" trumps (lol) literally every other social and ideological concern.

Even funnier is that Republicans have been obstructing the US economic potential post-Reagan. Good economics is not shilling or being conservative with your money. It's knowing where to invest, taking risks, innovating, and responding to ever-changing circumstances. Democrats have consistently outperformed Republicans on the economy. Also, cool fact: 70% of the US GDP is in liberal districts. ?

The Trump we were promised:

  • literally Hitler
  • alliance with /submission to Putin
  • mass deportations of Hispanics, preferably in cages
  • hordes of destitute, oppressed Americans applying for asylum in Canada
  • at least one nuclear war
  • cancelled election
  • Bill Barr marching with the feds on Philadelphia to seize ballot boxes
The Trump we were delivered:
  • two scoops
  • tax cuts

And what helped stop that. General Mark Millley, chairman of the Joint chiefs of Staff,
"

Gen. Milley: 'We take an oath to the Constitution'

The words spoken by America's top military officer, Gen. Mark Milley, carried a familiar ring, but in the midst of a chaotic week at the Pentagon, they were particularly poignant. (Nov. 12)

If Trump or his lapdog officers, General Tata or General McGregor, started any movement of troops on US soil, Milley would personally shoot Trump.

fascist coup
From the way he has acted in the past, we can intelligently abduce that Trump will do literally anything he can as long as he can get away with it. His only hurdles are the existing checks and balances and his incompetence. So totally viable and cause for alarm.

alliance with /submission to Putin
This is short-sighted. Relaxed attitude towards either Russia or China emboldens them.

mass deportations of Hispanics, preferably in cages
Intentionally separating parents from their children as a scare tactic against legal immigrants, causing traumas and death in the process is worth the condemnation.

cancelled election
You know why democracies don't work in third world countries? Because people don't believe in them.

The Trump we were delivered

  • Completely eliminated any sort of pretence of morality
  • Eroded LGTBQ rights (but you're not affected so who cares)
  • Appointing an idiot Supreme Court judge
  • Stupid handling of the pandemic causing preventable deaths
  • Eliminated independent science advisory panels
  • Retarded handling of the protests
  • Eroded unity in NATO, one of the US' most valuable geopolitical assets (2nd to its military)
  • Legitimized strongmen across the world
  • Validated racists which have caused material damage
  • Denied climate change and slashed environmental protection agencies
  • Literally I can go on forever

Oh no, not the media! Come on, mate, half of it is "in the eye of the observer" petty stuff nobody except political junkies gives a **** about and that nobody will even remember 6 months from now. He was a terrible president because he didn't do anything. He betrayed his voters without actually crossing the aisle. He just sat there and tweeted dumb rage-bait for 4 years.

No, no, I'm not having you act like an ******* and then try to make me feel bad for supposedly overreacting. Trump made moves in the past week that a 4 star general recognized as possibly leading to treason. The fact that it hasn't happened yet doesn't make the threat less real.

General Milley was asked to accompany President Trump during the clearing of Lincoln Square during protests of the killing of George Floyd so Trump could have a photo-op. Arriving there he realized that an Army presence sent the wrong message and he apologized to the American people.

Seems like a bit of an overreaction on the general's part. The National Guard, which is a part of the Army, isn't it, has been used for domestic anti-riot and similar purposes since I don't know when. I don't have a problem that he regrets the photo op, I might regret it too if I were in his place, but it's hardly a proof a coup was imminent or even conceived in Trump's head. There were talks about a coup since before he was even elected and the closest we got after 4 years was....taking a picture with the chief of staff during protests?

Rams, I lol'd.

The National guard is provided by each state. It is not a national military. It is not part of the Army. Get your facts straight. There was an insistence that they receive adequate training after the Ohio National Guard panicked and shot people at Kent State University in 1970.

Can we please stop sucking the media's ****? It's all curated trash. No one is giving you the news any more, they're giving you their opinion, which is the only way 24/7 news media can keep making money, is to fill the dead air with endless bought and paid for political pundits.

You can stop sucking the mainstream media's **** when you get your **** together and find a way to curb the circulation of your insane, racist conspiracies.

If you are in the upper half of the tax brackets, yes. If you are in the lower half you might be in for a nasty surprise in a few years (assuming that Biden does not fix it, which I am hoping he will).

Now, now Angela. Is that any way for a lady to talk?
