2000 nords

I'm having a big siege battle right now and I need some advice how to win it (if it's possible at all) , I'm going to give all the important information about the situation and if you have some ideas to help me win I'd like to hear them.

So I'm a vassal of Swadia and I have my own castle, Dramug castle, and it's being besieged by the Nords. There are almost 2000 nords here, its possible that they are using all their vassals. There is only one count protecting it and he only has like 20 troops. I dont't have time to ask other vassals for help because the battle has already started and all of our armies are kinda dead anyway. I have about 250 men myself. almost all of my troops are highest rank, about 60 vaegir marksman, and maybe 50 more highest rank archers from other countries (only 10 rhodok sharpshooters) . My melee troops are not that powerful though, I have 7 huscarls and about 10 rhodok sergeants, a few other melee troops from other countries, and the rest are all swadian knights or mercenaries.

I'm around level 27 myself, I believe I got around 70 hp with 7 power strike. I don't have any points in power draw or throw but I could use a crossbow, I've done that in the past and it seemed to work quite well. On the other hand, since my melee troops are so weak I might need to fight in the front line. But even though I have good weapons and armor I seem to die quite fast, and their axes break through my shields.

I can't see what troops the enemies have (there are so many that it doesn't fit on the little information box), but from what I've seen they do have alot of veterans and archers, not sure about huscarls, but they are definitely the most powerful kingdom rightnow because they pretty much own all of Swadia. If I lose this castle we only have one castle left.

I guess that's all there is to say but if you have questions feel free to ask.

I have the perfect solution

Go to Mount and blade > Configre > enable cheats > play mount and blade

load up and in the battlefield just hit that ctrl f4 my friend and you shouldn't even suffer any causalities:smile:

You could just sally out with d*** in hand and request a surrender.
Cheats is the only way I can see you successfully coming out of this one.

Lies.... Swadia ftw!

I suggest locking the topic. There is nothing more to discuss. You really cannot do much.

Set the battle limit to the smallest and turn down the difficulties. Than you should at least be able to kill some of them, but I doubt that you can actually win that

Guess I have to accept losing the castle and all my troops then, though I will never just surrender. I'll probably have some fun shooting nords with my crossbow, it should give me some decent experience atleast.

Another question, I'm assuming swadia will be dead soon, but what actually happens when swadia lost all their castles and all vassals are gone/captured except me? will the faction be dead or can I just keep the faction alive forever by running around and avoiding capture?

oh and last question, what will happen to my wife when we lose all castles? Will she die/dissapear or is that not possible?

It is best if you have some heavy cavarly to support you. Go on and chellange them on the battlefield if siege hasn't started yet. Lower the battle limit to the 30-40, and go on for the killing spree.

That's how I won battle 100 vs 1700

Ow. I've had kingdoms I've fought for start to go down the drain, but never had one sink so far! That's a tough place to be in. Without cheating your @$$ off, it's not possible to come out of that fight on top. Short of a bloody miracle, that is. But if you end up having to grossly cheat to pull it off, isn't that going to taint the feel of any further successes you have?

If you're the kind of guy who'd feel like he's cheating himself ('cause let's face it -- it's single player, 'cheat' is a relative term), then I say suck it up and take the hit. It's going to be brutal. You're going to lose a lot of what you've worked so hard to build up, and there's a chance Swadia's fubar.  If so, then you get the chance to rise from the ashes with another kingdom (or as an independant) and rock the world. Hell, maybe even pick up Isolla (if she's still around) and make a new Swadia!

Best to wait until you're higher level for that awesome story; build up lord relationships, and turn yourself and your army into a force to be reckoned with, first.

Something I've done in the past was to be patient and wait for one kingdom to siege another kingdom's town. If the defending kingdom loses it, and they're both fighting wars on multiple fronts (happen often enough that it's reasonable to watch for), they can be too busy/weak to reclaim it if your force is tough enough to take it and hold it. Swoop in, take a town that you think you can defend well (Praven tends to fall easily to tough melee troops, for example), quickly recruit as many low-tier troops as you can, and fortify the heck out of that place.

With a bit of luck and a bit of timing, you can completely turn your fortunes like that. One of my former characters was a Swadian lord who was level 21 or 22, with a small but competent force.  The Nords took Praven from Harlaus, and were decimating the kingdom -- but by attacking it the day after they took it, they were too busy fighting a large invading Khergit force to stop me. I ended up owning Praven, and turned the fortunes of the flagging Swadian Empire.

All while Harlaus was holding another feast from his ratty little castle.

You can look at this as either a really crappy turn of game events, or as the beginning of an awesome and epic tale.

dramug is a siege tower or ladder tower?

if siege tower, try eliminating as many incoming as possible, position your archers at a flank dominant to their weakness.

if ladder try placing your archers down in court yard or in vantage point where they shoot the flanks as the infantry goads them their way.

for instance... if ladder structure, place the infantry 10-20-30 feet away from stairs bottom... place the archers 30 feet from that point to hit the incoming on their vulnerable side.

if siege... take out as many as possible to the same style on the incoming... then rally your troops via reentering the siege scenario.

dwindle their 2000...

aside from all of this i am certain if you make a relevant dent in their forces their army disbands.

final solution... take your elite tier.. vacate  the castle and eliminate them on the field in strike patterns capable to your means.

Dude ive done 5 (me and my companions) and 7 khergits vs 1400 rhodoks before its easy khergits are the supereiour race

When defending a siege, I like to grab a polearm with 180 reach (I think it's the Poleaxe), then I position myself close to the ladders, but still behind my men. Then I begin basically hitting like crazy everyone that comes through the ladder. They are not close enough to hit me, but they are still within the Poleaxe's reach.

Sometimes it's tricky to find the right position where you are not too close but also not too far so your Poleaxe can reach all the incoming troops right when they are on the top of the wall. Also need to be protected from the archers, so the trick is basically to not get too far behind where they can shoot at you.

Sometimes also you need to change your position because your men won't allow you to have a clear path for your Poleaxe. But yes, it works!

One of the biggest problems is when I get reinforcements that my infantry/cavalry just open the path... BUT... I've learned that I could do some command like hold position.

Nords usually need to be weakened on open ground anyway, using an army of Swadian Knights, while they are still on the move to besiege some castle/town.

As mentioned before... this is probably lost, but for next time prepare an army of at least 100 heavy knights ( i personally use Sarranin Mamluks, they are awesome ) and then just strike any army that aproaches your castle... this way i easily destroyed an army of 1500, because they barely have any high tier troops, so those peasants are just food for your horses....
