Grüß Gott Kameraden,
We are an active and skilled German speaking cavalry-regiment. We have much fun with Napoleonic Wars and the Prussian Dead's Head Hussars.
Our objectifes are beeing a part of the great Napoleonic Wars Community, fight out many wins and meet other nice regiments.
For what we pay particular attention is, that our members are very active, because a regiment needs active members to survive in the struggel of Napoleonic Wars.
Also we want to take care about the skills of our members and help them to increase their skills to a high level, in order to become a strong regiment.
At the beginning it was an idea of three men, but after a few days they were going to work for it and created the 2. Leib-Husaren Regiment.
We rised by a secession of the 6te Garde-Grenadier Regiment. The secession started, because we didn't want to stay as a battailon any more.
The 2. Leib-Husaren Regiment founded through the love to the cavalry and to the prussian hussars.
The regiment was formed by the division of the body of Hussars in the 1 - and 2 Hussars regiment on 20th December 1808. Chief of the two, always closely linked regiments remained provisionally General Prittwitz. On 23rd and 24th November 1817 in relation to the second Hussars they were assigned to their garrisons. In the autumn of 1852 it was transferred to the regiment to Lissa and poses, where it was renamed on 7th May 1861 in the second Hussars Regiment No. 2. With the 1st April 1886 it was lifted to the whole regiment together in Poznan, where it was christened on 22nd March 1888 the name 2nd Hussars Regiment "Empress" No. 2
After combining the two Hussar regiments in the hussars Brigade, they got on the 14th September 1901, the new barracks in Danzig-Langfuhr as garrison. At the same time the 2nd Hussars Regiment renamed Empress # 2 for the last time and went from there to the final designation 2 Hussars Regiment "Queen Victoria of Prussia" No. 2
Battles:
In the liberation war at 1813/14 the Hussars fought at Großgörschen, on the Katzbach, at Möckern, at Laon and Paris before. In the night of 1 January 1814, the regiment was the first cavalry unit, under Field Marshal Blücher, crossed the Rhine at Kaub. After the abdication of Napoleon, the unit moved to the victorious troops on 14th August 1814 in Paris.
During the unrest in Poland in the years 1830, 1848 and 1863/64, the regiment was as backup to each of the Prussian-Russian border.
In the war against Austria in 1866, the regiment fought in Bohemia and took on 3 July 1866 at the Battle of Sadowa part.
The Franco-German War saw the hussars in the Battle of White Castle, at Haguenau, Worth and the Battle of Sedan against the troops of Emperor Napoleon III. with subsequent transfer to the Southern Army in the area of Orleans. On 18 June 1871, the regiment returned to his home garrison.
At the beginning of World War I the regiment advanced on 3 August 1914 with his sister Regiment (1st Hussars Regiment), to which it should remain throughout the war in the Association of hussars Brigade, from the Western Front. The Hussars took part in the Battle of the Marne and the battles of Arras and were laid in the fall of 1914 to the Eastern Front. Here they fought at first in Galicia and in the Battle of Riga and were involved in the occupation of the islands of Osel and Dago. In support of the independence struggle, the brigade was sent in 1917 to Finland. After the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Russia on 3 March 1918, the remaining units as occupation troops in the Russian territories. In January 1919 came the Hussars back to Gdansk, which began in the spring of the demobilization and the regiment was disbanded.
By war's end had the second Hussars Regiment No. 2 to keep the cavalry status.
The tradition was continued in the Reichswehr by the 2nd Squadron of the 5th (Prussian) Cavalry Regiment in Belgard.
