2 games?

Ok, at the risk of flogging a dead horse (chuckle), there appears to be 2 distinct groups here: those that like the face to face hug fest and other which likes the open horse warfare. For myself, I play this game pretty much for the horse archery. Playing online is not working for me, because 90% of the time no one is playing Khergits, and frequently when I find a Khergit game, it's quickly voted out and the map changes. After about 20 mins of this, I give up and just play single player because at least I get to play the role I bought the game to play, which in my opinion is the truly unique aspect of this game: first person horse archery.

It dawned on me that there might need to be 2 seperate games for everyone to have fun here.

One game could be M&B: Euro, and the other M&B: on the steppes. No Khergits at all in the Euro-version and rather than just Khergits, many varieties of Asian horseman under many other names such as Kara-Kitai, Naiman, Turkoman, Mongol, Jurchen, Tartar, etc. in the other.

Even easier still in the short run would be to allow a given server to say "No Khergits" or "only Khergits", allowing Khergit vs Khergit battles in the latter case so us horse fans can at least play, which we are currently being excluded from for the varieties of reasons identified.

Thoughts?

You have it all wrong. The two groups are "Khergit Haters" and "Khergit Haters." Basically, they are unbalanced in MP for the most part, and extremely annoying to fight, which is why people rarely let them stay on maps.

Also, you can play Khergits vs Khergits, if an admin changes it to that.

One option would be to create your own server and run it 24/7 as Khergit vs Khergit.

If the Devs nerfed the accuracy of the horse archers a little then that would help a lot. In my opinion they are a little too accurate when travelling at top speed. Then perhaps people wouldn't mind playing against them.

I've once been in deathmatch (no duel) server when it was Khergits against someone else in Ruins. Nearly everyone picked horse archer and really, that was FUN. One of the best Warband memories I have.

Chingis, if you like to play Khergits try to organize something like this and I'm sure people will come.

Hmm. Temping, but I have pretty limited time to put into this and I am sporadic at best in my involment. I run a software company myself and simply have a few days to relax now and goof-off here like a kid before I have to go back to real life. Perhaps at xmas as I let things run a little slower then.

Cheers

Hmm. Could that be accomplished in a mod? I notice some servers run mods. Perhaps a mod could be created that achieves that balance. I'd still play, even though I already get killed much more than I kill as it is now... but I'll accept the consesus if people who know this game far better than I feel it is unbalanced when you actually get good at it. I get smoked so easy by some of the veterans I thought that horse archery was the tough role to play. When I'm a Swadian Crossbowman, which I've only ever played a few times, my kill rates favor me, and while I am a horse archer, which I'm sure I must have logged 100 hours playing single player as, I get taken out like a hot knife through butter.

Cheers

a kerg vs kerg even would be fairly kick-ass actually...  I wonder if a pure-horsearcher event could be set up similarly to that Shield&Spear one.

Rhodoks should have mounted crossbowmen. Then what?!

Perhaps somebody gets cho-ku-nu: Chinese fast repeating crossbows. Then the anti-cavalry Indian war elephants with full plated body armour (medieval tanks)! Then mice... hahaa

I'm sure there are tons of theads about it, but the castles sieges are not exaclty a high point of the game. Some trebuchets and other siege craft would make those scenes a little more interesting too.

Cheers

Similar to you, I prefer my khergits too. They have been continously nerfed till they suck. Heck, I used to be able to headshot left and right when they had the war bow

Still fond of that memory on ruins, just got the war bow, let loose an arrow into a mob of horsemen, and it killed Harlequin
