1. Why get I two denars after a fight in the arena?

2. Why is the black hood more heavy than the segmented helm? Stupid question, I know...

1~ It's just the combatants pay. Which is significant when compared to the wages of low level troops.
2~ The Black Hood is heavier than the Segmented Helmet because...

Come to think of it, has anyone ever tried weaving fabric from thin wire rope? That ought to be interesting.

I suspect that the black hood is stronger because...it's black.

Black stuff is ALWAYS better/more expensive than similar equipment of inferior color, and often better than other non-black stuff.
