York - 1805
Rowdy music and cheering echo down the streets of York. Late on a summer eve, the sun slowly setting over York's walls a man stumbles into view carrying a bottle of wine and singing heartily. He heads for the sound of music, to the tavern "Old Glory"

The man barrels through the door to join his fellow countrymen in drinking. The tavern is the usual of sorts, wooden tables line the walls, maids shuffling through the rowdy men to serve drinks. The landlord trying to break up fights and see to the kitchens. The most unusual thing in this tavern, was the man sat in the corner, large book infront of him. This man was a recruitment officer of the 1st Kings Royal Regiment.

People chat with the officer as he tells tales of France, the war and of sultry wenches he chased in Spain. Oh he span tales of glory, lust, power and death. The men in the tavern laughed at him, called him a "Right daft sod" and carried on with their drinking.

The lone man, after swiping a drink from a nearby table, approached the officer and sat.

"So...*hic*. You can promise glory, women and a good old fight? If...*hic*...I sign on, what do i get?"
"Well" The officer began "You will be levvied 10 shillings for signing, that is enough money for a man to get rather sauced! You will be called upon within the week to attend boot. If you run, you will be caught, flogged and forced into service for stealing from the king. If you come when called, you will be flogged and put in the reds of the Kings Royals, given a musket, told which way to hold it and where to shoot it." The officer takes a swig of his brandy "Then, if you are lucky enough, we may even show you how to stick a Frenchie with a bayonet."
The officer pauses and sips his drink, waiting for the drunks decicion.
"Shoh....Let me get this straight. If i sign, i get 10 whole shilling right this second?"
The officer smiles "Indeed" he nods. "All for yourself". As the officer said this, he pulled out a coin purse and place it on the table. "So, do you wish to sign?"

The drunkard looked at the purse, then at the officer. He smiles and marks the ledger with an X. As soon as the quill hit the table, the drunk was knocked unconscious from behind and carted out of the tavern
The officer smiled and chuckled "Another one for boot lads" He swigged his brandy, smiling.

So, the 1st Kings Royal Regiment are a brand new Line Regiment hoping to start up in the ever growing NW community.

I'm Mazer. Some in the NW community may know me, Ex 91st, ex 84e. Was in the 51st Grenadiers in BGII as a Captain. I have been around the block a fair few times and know my Linebattling and regiments well.
Starting a regiment this late into NW where people have settled down in well established and well renowned regiments. It will be tough getting members.
Where the older, more experienced regiments have a sort of monopoly on new recruits, its still worth trying for the sake of something new.
I decided on making a completely made up regiment. Something where we write our own history in NW. That's where the 1st KRR came from. Just a idea.

I'm forming this regiment on the core values of teamwork, leadership, discipline and above all, fun. From my times in other regiments attaining an officers commission, i can take what i learned from each and apply them into one whole idea, the 1st KRR.

You don't see a lot of regiments using the old methods of PTS, old school formations or tactics. Its just become about "who can T-bone the enemy line with a volley first" and "Who can melee better".

In the 1stKRR, we aim to have fun. We don't strive to be the best, we don't care about getting the first volley. All we want is a line battle.

If you want to join from the ground up and help mold and form the regiment with me, add me on steam (ringle99), will show up as [1stKRR] Mazer.

We have a teamspeak 3 that we are using to set the regiment up. Forums and things like that are coming soon. For now its a "Lite" founding until the core structure of the regiment is set up.

Please feel free to leave feedback, wish us luck, tell us to go away or whatever. All help is greatly appreciated.
