There is one game that has made this kind of MP very good. That is Warbirds. U have a big map there are 2 sides fighting against each other. One map can take weeks to finish, depends of how long it takes the other team to conquer.
If they tweaked it a bit they could have made this happend. A.I controlled defenses at town etc.
But if it is not possible I will not press this matter anymore

How about making a sandbox multiplayer game? You have the big map, can free roam, meet other online players or A.I, you can form a gang together or kill them?
Is this possible?
What I didnt like about  M&B Warband is that you cant do this in the multiplayer. Just fighting in mount and blade gets tedious, its the whole package that makes it so good.

No, that is not possible. It would be feasable if the devs had made it. I believe they didn't for one simple reason.
Image this: You have a persistent map with lot's of castles and towns. You play the game 3 hours per week. There are other people that play the game 10 hours per week. You managed to get a castle for you. You logout of the game. Someone goes and attacks your castle. You are ****ed.

Simple as that.

Don't write in your quote, write after all the quotes. It makes the post more readable. If you're gonna do it you can at least bold the reply text.

Give a look at the cRPG mod. It's the closest we're gonna get at something like that(which is not very much close, but at least there is persistent level and equipment.)

thats so you

I didn't mention anything on "what" and the "how"was simply some solid advice. Messing up on quote text is usually bad form cause you can't tell what's the reply on a first glance, the only case it's usually done is when answering questions, and even then people usually bold the new text.

what if the castles and towns were team/clan controlled, and once captured they couldn't be captured again for a certain amount of time?

Yeah now you are talking  or maybe it will work? If you have enough A.I controlled men to protect your castle they can give up a good fight. Or take it out of the MP game completely, with no ability to take over towns or castles.
If 1866 MP will just be like warband I will let it pass. M@B gameplay is way too restricted and clumsy. If we had a good coversystem (like Gears of War, Gta4 or like Red Dead Redemption will have)
then maybe it could have been cool. But I need to be more flexible when I play multiplayer, the ability to jump to cover, to fast sprint etc.

owwwww thats really look good

so, supposedly that cube shadow correspond to a cube in the hill, some part of which is colored
(simulating the slope)
and the other part invisible and is where the bullets stuck/strike/dissappear/miss-the-mutha-who-runs-yelling-at-you-with-a-sword-about-to-split-your-skull? Creating that uphill/downhill shooting bug?

ok, i shut up

I wonder if that carried over to WB. Taleworlds said that the hit detection was redone and significantly improved so it may affect this and other changes to the engine might as well.

Highlander 说:
Haven't noticed that bug while testing.

you tested with bullets i guess.
What bout arrows, you know, all those stuck-in-mid-air arrows?
Anyway, happy to hear bug is no longer not there, or so seems to be.
I hate buggy boards LOL

The final version of my map, already sent it to Highlander.

Natural baricades, useful for players who use muskets and other slow weapons.

Wigwam, players can go in and prepare for an ambush.

mb5.png

Rocks, bushes and other type of vegetation can be used as cover, you can never know who is hiding behing bushes, also teams can prepare ambushes with the help of them.

- And a small suggestion, please select the planks_4 material for your bridge, (awesome ) to make it more realistic.

I want everyone to see them.

And another "little" retexturing suggestion. Cannons in 1866 were like this one.
