1866 Multiplayer brainstorming

...I started to work on that map, it is based on wilderness. A lot of cover, mountains, and different paths for the player and usable strategies, it will be very interesting, in that map you can't win without teamwork.

I'll show my work soon as I can.

I'm planning to implement the following troop classes:
Infantry:
muskets, revolvers, repeaters, no horses.
Cavalry:
revolvers, sabers, horses, no longarms.
Skirmisher:
muskets, one-shot rifles, scoped rifles, some revolvers, no horse.
Artillery/bomber:
revolvers, explosives, ability to use cannons.

These classes will be found in most factions.
Bandits, lawmen and mexicans will all be very similar. I'll try to make their clothes a little bit different. Lawmen will use frocks and other fine clothes, bandits more rugged clothes.
 
Can you add melee attacks to rifles, possibly bayonets too, and pistol whip for pistols?

That'd make close range combat pretty interesting :smile:

For a possible multiplayer gamemode you could do protect the train (from robbers or Indians) and possibly a protect the Mayor (protect the VIP gamemode).

Boulders ? You mean buildings ? It's a wild map, I'll add grass, bushes, rocks, some trees, maybe one hay-wigwam and some other things that can make the map more realistic and strategic.
 
Oh...rocks, of course. :grin:

Update: Added a lot of vegetation, bushes and rocks, teams can hide behind them and prepare an ambush also, placed an wigwam, players can go in it and surprise the enemy. Now it looks more realistic and beautiful. I'll post screenshots when the map is done.

I think multiplayer maps should be kinda small, some buildings to take cover. Maybe a town scene.

Like counter-strike LOL :wink:

And rather flat terrain
 
Not particularly interested in a MP mod but I think you all should consider making the differences between pistols and rifles greater. Especially if you plan to let folks use the repeaters and such. If it's possible maybe make rifles take longer the resettle after moving your aim? Make pistols a lot less effected by moving while aiming?

Anyway I would much rather see the single player ported over. :p It's a great mod but it's rough going from the smoother, prettier, more feature full warband and the original M&B.

+1, i'm not at all crazy about this being ported to MP myself though, but if it were, I see things like a canyon pass, with large rocks and boulders to take cover behind, with a road winding through the bottom....as one of the maps anyway.
 
Mine one is large, and has a lot of cover, I think I'll finish it today. But you must set waypoints and all, because I made that map in Ranch village.
 
How about making a sandbox multiplayer game? You have the big map, can free roam, meet other online players or A.I, you can form a gang together or kill them?
Is this possible?
What I didnt like about  M&B Warband is that you cant do this in the multiplayer. Just fighting in mount and blade gets tedious, its the whole package that makes it so good.

No, that is not possible. It would be feasable if the devs had made it. I believe they didn't for one simple reason.
Image this: You have a persistent map with lot's of castles and towns. You play the game 3 hours per week. There are other people that play the game 10 hours per week. You managed to get a castle for you. You logout of the game. Someone goes and attacks your castle. You are ****ed.

Simple as that.
