I too have been inspired to do a little composing after playing the mod for a couple weeks.  I've thrown together a couple short samples if you guys want to check them out.
yes we want to, of course
Check your PM's.

added your songs to the mod. The one like mono-mono is my favorite

I am so happy you have decided to make this mod. I was actually thinking about this idea for a month now. I haven't downloaded it yet because I am afraid of all the reported bugs. But when it gets patched up a little, I'm on it like a claim jumper!

nevermind what i posted already. Just downloaded and played some quick battles. Excellent job. The custom battle is a little weird to get to work. I had to click too many times to start a basic fight. I think you are ok on voice talent! "get em boys" and chinga tu madre" are a pleasant surprise. How about some variety in indian faces? I don't think I want to contribute anymore.

I can play the Guitar. If anyone wants to point me in the direction of maybe a great sound studio I could put together something. And I meant a software studio. I have all the cables needed to record, I just can't find anything on google that looks promising.

Propellerhead Record.

 AMAZING!!! Now hopefully it comes with some harmonica tunes! I think just a guitar would get boring.

Hey, I'd love to help out but I don't have much technical skill related to M&B Mods  and I also don't have much time due to work

I am sort of a "big picture guy", so what I do have a lot of is ideas, but not sure how helpful they can be. And I really would love to help out with quests and stories and such, I am a huge movie buff and really have gotten into westerns lately.

I do remember trying to script M&B quests a long time ago and basically everything was a really big text file and you just had dialog and pointers and different little tokens to indicate stuff. I don't know if I could pick that up by just playing around with it, but maybe I could write the quest "pseudo code" with out all the dialog and plot choices written out so you can just implement it (it all sounds sooo simple).

Also, I might be able to help out with music a bit. It seems like you will eventually want a piano player in the saloons, I might be able to hunt down some open source, royalty free versions of some old rags. Matter of fact I used to be able to play the Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin (which is in public domain), but technically that was written in 1899...

Let me know how you think I could best help.

Thank you for the offer on ideas.  Truthfully, ideas help, but not very much.  We have 80,000 ideas but only a handful of people who can help us realize them.  I guess you can call this reality sinking in.  What we really need are people who can produce something tangible AND useful.  (For some reason, that is a very hard combination to find.)

You have a good idea on how to help.  The most effective way you can help right now is by scavenging for media.  Right now, we need music.  It's out there...you just have to know what you want, and get lucky.

The folks down at Newgrounds are very generous seeing as they're a Flash sharing site.

If you guys need music, a quick dive into the audio portal is helpful, though you have to give credit to the artists.

A few examples :

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/252696

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/217151

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/221386

All three loop perfectly, which is real convenient. This site may be mainly for Flash artists, but there's plenty of people working with music as well!

They're under a Creative Commons license, so just don't use it for anything commercial (this mod is free, check) and give them credit (I'm sure you guys would do that regardless) and you're good to go.

sounds like it's all techno crap, which has no place in 1866.

The third link isn't bad actually.  Too bad the guitar tone is so solid state and lifeless.

Well yeah, that's the Spaghetti Western on what sounds to be a nylon guitar with a wierd ass distortion. You have to have a guitar with Steel Strings to do a proper sounding western sound.

I'll throw in a couple more for you guys to go over and consider. If anything, the music itself can be useful if any musicians are on board for the project.

http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/294844  <-- A personal favorite, and the guy also happens to be a Cowboy Bebop fan (and was influenced by it making the song).

Out of curiosity, for music, is the creative commons license what you guys are looking for, or does it have to be public domain or... what?

That really depends on the type of creative commons license and what we'd have to do with it.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creative_Commons_licenses

If you find something that is CC, let us know.  We'll use our best judgment from there.

Edit:  Thank you for the music links.  Some of those will work nicely.
