Turn 1 begins 8/19/2012 and will end midnight of 8/21/2012

I need the faction leaders to give me their placement of their pieces before turn 1 ends

No battle in turn 1, only the placement of your pieces

*If you were not at the meeting today, you need to contact me via pm or on steam: ICEArmy

Faction - Regiment: Leader
A regiment who is bold and italic is the regiment with the faction leader.
If you DO NOT have a faction leader, it is because neither of the regiments in that faction showed up to the meeting or they have not determined their faction leader yet.

- Financial System
*You can obtain a certain amount of gold per turn (day) depending on how many provinces you own. Every 3 provinces gets you 30 gold per turn. Every capital you own gives you 50 gold per turn. *There shall be specially designated "Trade" provinces in each faction that give you 40 gold per turn just by themselves. (They will be displayed on the map soon, and there may be a chance that battles for these provinces will be conquest.
This money shall be used to purchase bonus units for your battles. Linebattles will, by default, be only line infantry. Country funds will be used to purchase the ability to field any of the following:
Guard Infantry - 170
Light Infantry - 170
Skirmishers - 190
Light Cavalry - 190
Lancers - 230
Dragoons - 230
Heavy Cavalry - 220
Sappers - 200
Artillery - 250
The max in a detatchment is 8
Perhaps extra boons such as in-game bonuses, near instant map movement, etc.

- Faction Commanders *Rewritten due to popular demand *
Faction commanders shall be elected from the pool of leaders in their faction. The faction commander shall mostly be alerting the admins on the movements and plans of their faction. It is up to the factions to set up how they make their decisions and communicate. Setting up steam groups or whatever is encouraged.

- EU/NA. Our plan currently is to divide the map down the middle for the beginning, putting EU regiments on one side, NA regiments on the other. For the battles themselves, if an NA regiment attacks an EU held province, the match is played on EU and vice versa. This is to give the defender a bonus of course, and symbolizes the Risk rule of when the same value is thrown in the dice, the defender wins.

- Conquest and Battle rules
*Battles will take place in the 3 days per turn if possible. We figure that any 3 consecutive days of the week should be enough to set up a linebattle.
*Factions will be allowed to attack from a territory in where a regiment is stationed. That regiment(s) shall then linebattle the defending regiment(s). Who ever wins the linebattle captures the other territory.
*Regiments are allowed to have other regiments join their battles if the allied regiment is an adjacent territory to the land being fought for. This may be restricted to being just applicable on defense.
Here are the linebattle rules
* Best out of 3 maps. First to 3 round wins per map, get's the map as a win.
* There shall be no firing out of formation in this event!
* Regular Line Infantry only! That means don't try to sneak in as guard or light infantry. The only way to use something special is if your leader authorizes the purchase of something special as explained above.
- Siege rules are still under development, once again open to suggestions.

-Event Participation
If you'd like to be a part of the campaign, (Which will indeed require a good number of regiments) simply fill out the application below, and accept the invite to the steam group when you receive it.

This is, to be honest, all I've remembered to explain at this moment. Please, if I missed anything, reply down below and let me know.

The whole thing seems very interesting. I would suggest however, the group of regiments approach, thus making it seem more historically accurate, if that is, of course, what you're aiming for.

- We are not sure if this will be groups of regiments fighting for territory together, or if it will be individual regiments. Your opinion and discussion on this is greatly appreciated.
I think it should depend if an attack is coordinated by multiple regiments or if it is a siege on a capital.

I really like this bit.

* The firing out of line rule, which we all know is a constant argument, we are leaving to you, the community at large, to vote on, thus the poll above.
I'd say only have it for actual LB's, but disabled for the Sieges.

I would say the 8th would love to participate.

Dear Tico,

Brilliant, i hope that you do this, you have my support from the 10th North Lincolnshire Regiment Of Foot Guard..

Thanks Sir For The Link

Map added!

And we are looking at everyone's comment, keep them coming please, as well as any questions!

Will each faction have a commander? And will there be a financial system?

The faction commander idea is interesting, and may be necessary, so as to have a figure deciding where that faction attacks and whatnot. That is, however, assuming we take the faction approach. Not to mention, when you say faction, do you mean as in each faction on the map, or makeshift coalitions/armies from the community? So many questions...

What do you propose the financial system would be used for? We haven't considered anything like that as of yet.

First of all, I'd like to say that something like this could really take off, having more depth behind it than regular line-battle events. It is always more exciting fighting for the survival of your faction than just a random line-battle.

Assuming both the individual and group regiment route is available, the individual regiment route should have defenders limited to asking allies that are in the region to help, not some far off province. However, this approach may be difficult to managing as there would be a huge number of small regiments holding territory.

The group regiment route, however, seems the better way to go for me. Not only does it lead to team-play, strategy, and larger, more exciting battles, but would also serve very well to add the realistic touch of having armies stationed in various parts of the province. A group of three regiments might make up one army defending the South border while an army of four is in charge of the North. This way, we can have that total war touch where armies are strategically positioned to match enemy positions and defend important provinces.

To have my two cents on the firing out of line rule, I very much like that volley before a charge and then shoot off any remaining rounds when in melee rule that is implemented in the NEC line-battles but I would be equally in support of a strict firing on the charge rule. Leave the rest up to you guys.

Thanks

I vote No to Firing in a charge.
Yes for Factions

Tico. personally, i like the idea. i would definitely like to partake in such an event. And for "Commanders" i would say. every faction has its Leader. UK, Pru, Aus, Fr, and Ru. (preferably someone good at total war lol) They are in charge of putting regiments where they need to be, setting them up. and making an organized assault. Instead of how Friday and Thursday Lbs go with every regiment going witch way. this will also ensure that no one regiments can steam roll every opponent due to lack of support and teamwork.

Countries that are not in game: Obviously everyone wants to play their own faction. UK will most likely be the biggest(lots of UK regiments) and due to its size maybe be Unstoppable. In response, there should be a lottory, and or have people volonteer to go the other factions such as Italy, Ottomans, Ect. OR you could have like 3 (Random # i picked) regiments play the part of Opfor and they would do all defending.

As for just having a free for all vs Factions on this map? It would definitely be cool to have a free for all. BUT it would be inevitable to have a group of regiments team and take out all the weaker regiments until they were the only ones left. And then you would get the poor little regiment that may even be a very good regiment, get knocked out of the game on turn one.

And for the size of the territory and the amount of them you have. there should be a bonus or something like that. there needs to be a currency maybe? something to drive you to want to capture more land? Maybe if you hold certain territories you can enable bonuses for your team ect. Faction bonuses? Ex. British troops could historically reload a lot faster than any other nation? (Brits can have musicians) Russia had a **** ton of troops. You have to beat them twice over? or maybe they are forced to outnumber you by like 5 people? France would Have a great offence. maybe all Countries not controlled by another actual factoin are instant wins? or they can try again to win a territory before conceding defeat? Prussia can move 2 terrotorys at a time. Austria umm. idk. but stuff like that would throw an insanely fun curve  ball on the whole thing. but hey. you asked for my 2 cents and there they are lol.

Thank you very much to you Hugo and WhiteEagle. You both had some really interesting stuff in there and I think we'll implement some of it. Due to the fact that factions/groups seems to be the most popular choice with the community right now, I believe we'll be doing that for our first epic game of this campaign. I was thinking, and people throw me some feedback, split up into countries. Then, by random choice you get assigned to a country. This will mean equal number of regiments for each faction. Now here is what I'm not so sure about.

Option 1. The big countries (UK, France, Russia, Prussia, Austria, Ottomans, Spain) can't ally at all. They'll be getting the most number of regiments and will be on a free for all for their entire campaign. Little countries get a proportionally smaller number of regiments assigned to them, but can ally to other small countries (This is just an idea, and now that I'm typing it down, it seems incredibly stupid)
Option 2. Re-distribute the small countries and give their territory to bigger countries near them as equally as possible. Playable countries I think would be UK, Russia, France, Spain, Prussia, Austria, Ottoman Empire, Italy?)

In terms of the actual campaign, the commander of each faction distributes the initial deployment of regiments in their territory. (Just like in Risk) Then, they can launch attacks from territories with a regiment or regiments. If they win, they gain the territory. If they lose, they lose the territory they attacked from to the enemy? Every time a regiment loses a battle, be it defense or offense, they respawn at their country capital. Movement in this campaign I think will be one territory a day. Across water can mean more. Let me know what you think!

Just be sure of it that it doesn't die out half-way  It happend to the last couple of "campaigns" and it is really a shame...
