just 1 thing. I suggest you make both spearman and swordsman top tier. (so you can have good cavalry protection and good infantry)

                                          >spear militia ->spearman
                    >footman -> >sword militia ->swordsman
(ex. recruit ->                                                                      )
                    >skirmisher ->archer....

just so you get the picture.
Yes, maybe i use this good old native like style for some biggest faction.

Just to be clear on the map.
This is a map of the Kingdom of Hungary during the mongol invasion. In 1257 it was very similar (only difference was that Styria was conquered by the hungarians). I drew the map border with dark red, and you can  see even the southern tip of the banates are out of range, so there's no way we can add factions like Bulgaria, Serbia without modifying the map. And we don't want to, because it's about Central Europe*.Besides, those factions were more oriented towards S, S-E politically. The faction list Raudentius provided is final.

*factions like Lithuania and Galitskoe Duchy are added so the map won't have deserted regions

OFF TOPIC:
One thing really caught my attention: the word 'vitez'. Is this a  slavic word??? What does it mean in slavic languages ??? I know I've seen somewhere that even russians use it. In hungarian (spelled 'vitéz') it has many meanings - brave, hero, soldier (literally, not like a soldier type). It's different forms can be used as a noun, adjective or verb.

DUnno mate... Isn't it a little bit pointless to make a 1247 mod when there is a 1200 mod already? If at least there was an entire century of difference...
:roll:

Vitez means knight on both Croatian, Czech and Serbian ... And most probably it means the same on Polish and Slovakian...  So yes, it's a slavic word

I know Europe 1200 is a great mod, the team did a great job, I played it a lot, and in a way it even inspired me to start modding m&b.  I don't know if you tried our mod or not, but I assure you it's very different in many ways. First off, our mod is concentrated on Central Europe (unlike 1200 where all of Europe is represented).  So naturally it has less factions, but bigger in size (in 1200 HRE has like 5 cities, here it has more than a dozen) and with more lords (we plan to further increase settlements and number of lords in the next version). Having less factions allows us to put more effort in recreating them as accurately as possible, and I believe the game will have a more realistic feel to it, and an increased difficulty. Eliminating a faction like HRE or Kingdom of Hungary will be a real challenge.
And btw it's 1257 not 1247, but I'm sure it was a typo.

Maybe it is, but don't be so sure about it. Just because it's present in many slavic languages it can still be borrowed. I'm no linguist, but I'll try to do some reasearch, see if I can find anything on the subject.

In czech language is Vítěz - Winner, Vítězství - Victory, Rytíř - Knight and polish Rycerz - Knight. But word Vitez have slavonic roots.

In Bulgarian it's used rarely (possibly as a borrowing from Russian), but with both meanings - from one side as a Slavic form of "knight" (meaning something more like "noble horseman", though not necessarily with the actual socio-economic features that make the knight an actual (Western feudal) knight) and from another side as a "brave man, champion, hero" (i.e. Slavic kalka for the old "bagatur").

@Raudentius: I don't think Croats had the 'knez' title among the nobility. The 'Ban' should be the highest rank (ruler) of the country, since it will be called Banate of Croatia. And I don't know if Bartolomeo Frangepan is the best suited for the ultimate ruler of this faction. A Subich would be better suited in my point of view. The best solution would be to ask a Croatian on this matter. And I hope you did the research yourself this time, and didn't just copy the names from another mod. BTW, my exams are over, so  I can start working on the mod again.

I also have an announcement to everybody playing the mod, and possibly waiting for the next version: I know Warband is coming soon, but this won't affect the progress of the next version of our mod. We will finish it and release it (even if less people will play it because of Warband). Who knows how much time will take before people figure out how to mod Warand properly.

I'm not really and expert but 'knez' title was used in Croatia (I can't really remember when)... However if you are planning to make an independent faction, rulers title should be "ban"

Ok, so ban Frankopan is ok? And other lords...  I can use this title for other Croatian lords too, or be better used only names without title?

Thanks for the update info and keep up the good work, I'm quite impressed by this mod so far. :wink:

I'm not sure what are you trying to say but only one person can have the "ban" title because it's a ruler's title

He he, my english is amazing  :lol: :lol:!!! Ok, only ruler will be "ban".

nice to hear that you dont regard warband as the stone of the wise and pin your mod on it. The way I see I wont have any urge to go back to native just to try out multiplayer and a few new options. Love the factions and the map - and the sheer size of the factions - not just a few cities but a full fledged nation - that should leave some room for the minor nations without having them linger in a castle and two villages.

'Like' is  an understatement. I LOVE IT. Thank you for sharing it, it's a very nice collection I never knew existed.

If you like the current version of the mod, stay tuned for the next one  :wink: It will have even more settlements and more lords (for both new and existing factions), which means more realism and bigger challange. Imagine the HRE with a total of 40 lords starting a campaign and half of the lords join - they will drink  the virtual rivers dry :lol:

And now that I think about challenges, I have and idea: after the new version is  released, we could start a competition for all players of the mod. The goal would be to conquer a bigger faction - like HRE or Hungary  and the first player(s) to show good proof would  get some sort  of reward - like a custom NPC (in future versions of the mod) created with the winner's specifications, with a prestigious title like 'player name the german-slayer' or 'player name scourge of Hungary' and unique equipment, heraldry. What do you guys think???

Good I could be of a little help

interesting idea - kill a before named faction as player or as a vassal? - As a vassal would make it easier - especially if you are the vassal of a strong faction say Hungary against Holy Roman Empire......But it is an idea I like - I personally prefer to be a vassal in my games - especially when they are played on historical maps.

If you could make a list of nations you would be likely to add later I could make an effort in getting info, lists of lords, what towns, cities etc are most prominent in the period etc...It would also help other interested people in getting info collected - add it to a list on the first page perhaps.....- likely factions, out of the question factions etc etc Croatia seems the nation you are working on? - not really my field - Venezia? Italian city states? Venezia isn't really that strong in terms of area but one could combine some areas - turn them into leagues/alliances or the like - on the other hand, you could argue that it would be nice to have large factions and small in one game....as for the Teutonic order - there you could lean on the work of the Rus XIII mod....for lords etc.

What I am a bit unsure about is the map - from the screenshot the map would suggest that there would be room for the dutch provinces, most of Denmark, the Eidgenossenschaft (Swiss), Croatia, Flanders, Lorraine and more of France, Italian states, northern Serbia, Wallachia (if I remember correctly under the rule of mongol vassals or tribes at the time - Cuman?) What is there really room for? what is not useable of the map? - Would be nice to have a screenshot of the map with the actual borders of what areas can be used to figure out what makes sense in terms of research and suggestions...

All help is welcome :wink: Do you have any area of expertise ? Like a historical faction/region etc. you know more about ? - even if not, we could use the help anyway.

I guess I'll be updating my first post, so people will have easy access to news about the mod.
