NEW version (v1.1) uploaded on MB repository on 01.07.2009.:



I just uploaded some (crucial) modifications for our beloved mod on M&B repository.

1. Export your current character
2. Make backup of files that are to be changed, and then copy/paste provided files,
3. Start a new game to enter the Feudal 1257 ad,
4. Import character and ride forth!

Comments and critics are welcome and nessesary if this is to be improved over time.
Iˇll be monitoring this topic reguraly so be free to post

This is great news ! I had hoped Spanky might due a little addon work ....sadly no but this addtion sounds great  :shock:
BTW where would I find Raz's Baltic and when you due get permission will you add as a second version?

I gave a brief glance at this mod, and it's great  :wink:. So far there are problems though:

- The version of 1257 RCM used is outdated - see latest changes.
- Tourney Helm... Isn't it redundant considering the two variants of the Great Helm already present?
- "Feudal Knights", not "Feudal knights". I think there ought to be a bit of change here: first a "Feudal" Knight, by its name, would possess a fief and would thus not try to make a life out of brigandage, as it is depicted. Instead they should be renamed to "Errand Knights" or "Robber Barons", for the kind of fortune seekers and poorer knights who would find this kind of course tempting and maybe even bring their retinues for it.
- Teutonic Knights as bandits  :neutral:? They should become a Mercenary Party for hire, although that might require the source code.

I was just wondering if you modded the original 1257 game wouldn't you have to also change the module.ini file to the RC mods one  ?
or Leave as is ?

First tnx for tryin it out.

1. At one time I had a grande plan both for Feudal knights and for Teuton riders; placing dozen small keeps around the map, nothing large, small stone keep with walls, gatehouse, 30-50 soldiers as garrison... These keeps were to be as "base of operations" or Keeps in possesion of famous Feudal lords. But, my first try at creating the nessesary scene resulted in total confusion so I postponed that for later times (if someone is skilled in scene creating and willing to contribute to the forum as the rest of us mortals, then this addition would be more than welcome in the feudal world of 1257 ad)...,
2. Yes indeed Jean, RCM used is not the newest version, I uploaded this one cos I worked on it for some time now and it would be a shame to throw it away...,
3. Tourney helm are fine looking models of helmets and fit very well in the picture of Feudal knight as I see them,
4. No comments on the jewels of mod: Vaegir guard?  :neutral:

As you can see, my knowledge about modding is quite crude, basicly all changes made were done through Items and Troop (and Party templates op.ur.) editors, and with ALOT of play-testing through new game / new game / new game / ....lalalalalalalaaaaaa! time consuming!

But alas, hope you like the concept of merc armies (now it is possible to combine your party with a variety of merc archers/infantry/cavalry....)

EDIT: since Razinka is out of reach for some time now, what say You that I upload his map? vote for it? I do not like to use someones work so easily, thats just not fair; but this map is the map ta play on! Still, there are some things to work on, place roads, more bridges, snow in Vaegir lands etc etc...
What say you, to upload or not to upload? the question is now..

Jean, whats the status on next version of 1257?
I know that few months ago Spanky mentioned that he succsesfully implemented morale system and some new feats in 1257, I was wondering.... Where did our beloved moderator go...?
 
I've hacked in the scripts for the morale system without much trouble...the trouble is the variables and strings. I reckon I can wrangle it, though. It's just the line number in quick_strings for the string, as far as I can tell, so I just have to find where that occurs in the scripts/mission templates and change it. And for the variables, as well. :S I hate text hacking! :sad:

EDIT: No, that is not how it works. Unless someone knows how the text files refer to variables and strings, I am stuck.

Very impressive map needs a bit of tweaking some settlements sitting in lakes and such but otherwise great atmosphere.
Where can look to set factions colours to settlements?
 
At the very end of module.txt.

Youˇll see a line "show factions colour"... set this value to 1 and there you are.

Interesting is that Khergits have a castle (Stolbovo castle) in Russia! period acurate(?)
 
hi folks.
New version of Feudal edition coming soon:

- further balanced troops,
- archers now Longbowmen(less uber archer unit),
- all horses cost much more now (its wiser to dismount and fight on foot after your horse takes a heavy punch or two),
- bandit/raider/feudal knights parties now bigger,
- surcoats over mail(colored variants) & mail and surcoat(swadians) now have same stats and cost the same(a lot more),
- corrected values for polearm weapons (no more Heavy Heavy lance =?= ),
- Khergits a bit redone,
- who knows what else, a lot tweaks were done.... play and see

I'll be releasing another update for 1257 RCM soon, for you to know  :wink:.

Alas, thanks for noticing the problem with Surcoats, but I think some of the surcoats depicted are a bit thicker and might include padding, so they might as well be worth their extra value.
 
Completley new version uploaded on MB repository.

This is to be the final version (hope so that it is :grin:).

Start with a fresh new player, its much more challenging now. Your party can be very easily be completley wiped out by a charge of Feudal renegade knights, watch out!
