Recruit
Eh 1 more question plx [sorry that I'm still S00000 n00b]
The question is: Who do I have to recruite to get Cavalrie? I got scouts/archers/infantrie but no cavalrie
Please help me

There are 3 factions in the game with cavalry (and of course bandits, manhunters and mercenaries have horses, and companions can have horses, oh and sword sisters too), these three are Khergits, Vaegir and Swadian.

How to get them?

Khergits are the most horse related faction in the game, even their recruits can have horses. And above recruit (called Tribesman) they all have horses.

Next come the Vaegir. To get horses with Vaegir you get a recruit, upgrade to Footman, then to Veteran (that may, or may not have a horse), then to Horseman and again to Knight. The Horseman and Knight always have horses.

Then to Swadians. To get horses you get a recruit, upgrade to militia (I think, if not its called footman, its only 1 way to upgrade a recruit, so its that one), upgrade to Infantry, then to Men-at-arm, and finally to Knight. The Men-at-arms and Knights always have horses.

To get bandits you could either free some imprisoned steppe bandits or mountain bandits, or free a looter and train him to mountain bandit.

To get manhunters you free a manhunter and upgrade him. Manhunters only have 1 way to upgrade for every level, so you always end up with cavalry.

If you want mercenary cavalry you could either hire them in taverns, or do it the hard way. Free a farmer, upgrade him to watchman, then Caravanguard, mercenary Horseman, and finally mercenary Cavalry. Caravanguard, Horseman and Cavalry always have horses.

Its a bit harder to get Sword Sisters, but its really not that difficult. First you need to free a peasant woman and upgrade her all the way. Its only 1 choice for every level here too. I think it go to camp follower, huntress, camp defender and then Sword Sister. Only the Sword Sister have horses.

Then lastly its the Companions, you find them randomly at taverns and you can give them equipment, so you could give them a horse.

I hope that was slightly helpfull : /

Actually, for Swadians you wouldn't want to pick "Infantry" if you want to develop horsemen.

You'd go Recruit, Militia, Footman, Man-at-Arms, Knight -- the last two being tough mounted troops.

The Swadian Knight are the heaviest horsement in the game and do well in seiges as well.  Vaegir Knights don't have quite the toughness of them but can substitute in a pinch.  The Kergit lancers not only have the lances for charging but many are also equipped with bows, so I almost never use the Kergit horse-archers.  They are lighter and faster than the knights, so not so good in sieges, but a mixed force of lancers and Swadian Knights is a daunting proposition for any enemy on any fairly level battlefield.

Sword Sisters are a very neat unit that always seemed rather cool to me, given how rare they are.  Unfortunately, they suck.  They get good weapons and armour, but their stats are pretty horrid.  No power strike, no power draw, no horse archery... yet many have bows and they fight from horseback.  Awesome for theme, sad for effectiveness.

Dang.. You nailed me there Persnychite.

Yes, its Recruit, Militia, Footman, Men-at-arm, Knight.. I just mixed up the name for the tire 3 guy : (

On a side note, the Sword Sisters do not have bows, they have crossbows, you don't need powerdraw for crossbows.

And no, they are not very good, but its nice to have something to do, and trying to train as many Sword Sisters as possible is a fun thing to do really.. I think my record is around 40 or something.

They ROCK in sieges so long their are in the 2nd wave of the attack(plate armor, crossbows).
Besides, they cannot use their crossbows from horseback can they not?

Well.. there are at least 1 crossbow you can use from horseback.. And I'd guess its this one they have.. They rarely use it though, because its not a very good idea..

Maybe your in the nord or rhodok faction. Nords and Rhodoks never have any mounted units (besides their lord). But the bright side is, both Nord veteran archers and Nord huscarl are ranged units. One time my line of nord huscarls were holding position on top of a hill. We were fighting agaist 60 forest bandits (which is very rare), and they have no shields. Nord huscarls use their throwing axes 50% of the time, and can i tell you, like half the bandits died from just the throwing axes. My nord archers didnt do sht. (im mainly a vaegir, but im trying out other factions cuz im done with vaegirs)

The rhodoks is just like an anti-cavalry faction. They mainly use spears, and only 5 pierces can knock down a charger. It best to fight them on the ground, as spears are not effective close up.

in the native mod, this is the strongest army: Swadian Knights [best cavalry], vaegir marksmen [best ranged units], rhodok seargents [with spears to knock down enemy cavalry], nord huscarls [best infantry] and khergit veteran horse archers [they do ranged and melee on horse]. That army can pwn! And theres proof, one of the heroes mentions it, but i forgot who.

Or if you want you could have the best hero army. Check out my thread, called The Heroes? It says on the second page. Here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,64183.0.html
