Resolved [1.8.0 BETA] Foot troops don't consider melee weapon range in combat

No, I didn't use any mods.
Summary:
Foot troops with long weapons, for example polearms, don't use effective range of their weapon. They run point blank and then attack dealing highly reduced damage.
I think it's same AI issue with cavalry reported here https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?threads/cavalry-ai-downgraded-in-1-8-0.452380/

How to Reproduce:
1. Go for vlandian tournament
2. Get 1v1 with billhooks
3. Look how AI fights, not using weapon range

I'm sure you can also check strugian tournament with spear and shield.

+5 oof thank goodness...

Facehugging has never been as intense as it is now... even the bots in Warband keep more distance (they step back even). Fix this please because it's outrageous.
 
Thanks for confirming but why wasn't it mentioned in patch notes :/
My guess is that it was the exact same bug as cavalry being bad at hitting in melee so they might not have even noted down that it fixed footmen too.
