1.5 Impressions?

So you acknowledge that after the skill update you became bad? Why are you arguing then? If you don't know how the game works why do you speak like a truth-teller?

Yes, the "skill update" where you kill all the fun of everything except at spastic-mele kind of killed the fun. Still 11-3'd (or so) it yesterday evening or so but at more stress and did I mention less fun?

I mean because they "nerfed" an op class that you apparently abused before, it doesn't mean the game is unplayable. You just need to think and to master your class now.

Sad we had to endure the old system for so long. It made many think they are decent players when they were using broken mechanics. If only this would been like this from alpha/beta we wouldn't be having this discussion. I actually like pretty much all new changes and features (except crusthrough) and you might call game "enjoyable".

Who decides whether a mechanic is broken, you? ? ? ? ? The ridiculousness here knows no boundary often times. Fascinating to see.

Update is pretty meh. Combat/movement slowed down. I no longer enjoy a 5 v 1, can't dodge stuff as well. They should have just reworked some classes to have less range in general. Remove crushthrough.

YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WERE BAD AT YOUR CLASS. YOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU WERE SALTY THAT RELATIVE NEWCOMERS GOT THE BETTER OF YOU TOO OFTEN. YOU. NOT ME. YOU.

Horse archer IS AS DIFFICULT AS POSSIBLE AS IT WAS. I TRAINED FOR WEEKS TO BE ABLE TO GET A POSITIVE KD WITH IT. AND THEN FURTHER TO OFTEN BE IN THE TOP 5 OF THE TDM. AND NOW IT'S ALL TRASH. IMPOSSIBLE TO AIM WITHIN 1 SECOND IF UNDER 3 SECONDS THE AIM IS COMPLETELY RANDOM AND TRASH.
First time I played horse archer I bump headshot an inf and instantly killed him at full speed within 30 seconds. Yeah very difficult class to play.

It's ok to be passionate about the game, and it's ok to express your concerns about the new patch, however, it's coming to the point where you're being passive aggressive and sarcastic to anyone that disagrees with you, which isn't ok. If you're going to continue down this route to anyone that disagrees with you with your persistent argumentative behaviour, then you'll be warned. Same applies to anyone who's constantly trying to bait.

1.2 Spam
Stupid, pointless, and annoying messages (spam) can clog up the forum, making relevant and accurate information harder to find. The definition of spam includes, but is not limited to, the following actions:
  • Disruptive or persistently argumentative behaviour.

I finally got to play 1.5 and I was disappointed; mainly from some false impressions I got on this thread.

I came into siege thinking I could spam with a 2 hander and get easy kills, that archers no longer could hit you, and that cav would no longer be the wrecking machines that they were.

Sadly, that wasn't the case. I feel the one handers already learned how to deal with 2 handers, so eventually I had to start blocking again. After playing the 'broken' version of this game, I did find it really weird trying to fight despite all my Warband experience. The animations seemed a lot different. So I did a lot worse than I used to, but I sorta felt that was my fault and not the games, so I didn't RQ after a few rounds like I usually do.

Archers still hurt. I am so glad we got that little shield for two handers. Eventually, because it was siege and we were fighting Khuzaitis, I went shielder and felt more comfortable with those animations. The spear definitely feels better, and made a great support weapon (since there is no friendly fire), and did seem to stop cav a little better.

Cav still seems OP, and especially stupid in siege. They still run fearlessly through the enemy infantry on the streets, ramps and walls of the castle. At least they are stoppable now, if you are ready for them with a spear, but a two handed axe to their heads doesn't affect them at all. I personally think the access to and from the castle for cav should only be through the main gate. Sallying out makes sense, but sallying in doesn't.

So, despite this patch not making me the 2 hand hero I always wanted to be, and, in fact, lowered my KD, I'm gonna say its definitely playable again. Siege isn't my favourite since I have to sacrifice so many lives when attacking at the start, but once they get a battle mode I'll be very happy- oh, and make castles less cav friendly- that's pretty much my only justifiable complaint about siege.

Combat is messed up. Two handed axes should not be the counter to cavalry. Spears should be the counter to Cavalry. Two handed weapons should be good against Archers and Shield Infantry, but useless otherwise. Horses should be weak to spears, but they should take less damage from everything else.

That is how it is currently?

I wish.
What is happening in your games that make you think twohanded axes are the counter to cavalry. When I try to jump swing as cav they just stab me in the face. I guess if the cav is standing still next to you it could get shredded, but that’s true with any twohander.

I wish.

I don't know what game you are playing but as of recently spears were useless and now are absolutely perfect for stopping cav. 2 handed weapons however have always been pretty crap at killing horses, most weapons in general do very little damage.

Between you and metafa I'm starting to think there is a completely different 1.5 out there that has everything backwards.

After reading this thread I've seen some interesting suggestions. In my personal experience I thought 1h weapons needed a little speed boost but now I'm inclined to think that 2hs across the board could do with a slight speed nerf. Crushthrough needs a big tweak, probably only limit it to blunt, 2h weapons; voulges, menavalions and falxes crushing through feels bad.

I think many ranged players are complaining because now draw/aim time doesn't properly match the animations so it feels weird. I think ranged aiming could use a slight speed buff but significantly decrease hold time. I believe cavalry feels so strong at the moment because infantry lacks the ranged tools to hassle from a distance effectively. The slight buff to aim time would see a more balanced playing field.

I really feel like all spears should be able to swing from side to side for low blunt damage and to give 2 extra attack directions. All spears should also be able to brace; it's absurd that only pikes and lances (a cav weapon to start with) can brace.

I'm starting to really like how responsive infantry feels. A big step in the right direction

When I try to jump swing
That's another thing I don't get. Why is this even a thing in the first place? It's nonsense. IRL you cannot swing an axe while jumping with the same force that you can standing. The force doesn't just come from your arms, you need your legs for stabilization.

Spears work incredibly well against cavalry now, I think so far theres been one time it didnt work, but that was probably my screw up and not the game.

My biggest issue right now is how overpowered two handed heavy infantry are. Their only real weakness is being attacked by range weapons. They demolish all other infantry types in combat (which they should) but their two handed axes like the aserai bardiche, the battanian rhomphalia and especially the sturgian heavy axe are too strong against cavalry. It takes only two attacks for them to rip through either the horse or the rider.
