Summary: Notables are slowly going missing again in 1.5.1 beta, leaving villages with seemingly less recruits. Not sure if they are being replaced, I am tracking a couple villages and its been a few days and they have not been dynamically replaced. The notables that have been lost do not show up in enclopedia at all anymore
How to Reproduce: start a new game and wait in a town or village and watch the log. Notables slowly are lost throughout the gameworld.
Quest/Settlement Name: Varies, seemingly random

Same thing going on for me, constant stream of "(Notable) of (Village) was lost." messages.

They definitely aren't dying of old age. Can't look them up in the encyclopedia, but I've been remembering their names and villages and checking them on previous saves from the village encyclopedia entry and most of them are in their 20s-30s. They don't seem to be repopulating for me either, even after a year of running the clock in town.

Really not sure if it's worth starting a new save and playing at this point if the world's eventually going to be completely empty of recruits if I keep it going, sadly

same issue, Save uploaded.

Pic shows Borytor of Ov (he was mid 50 power, i had just looked at him) becoming "lost" and leaving only 1 notable at Ov.

Duh addressed this in the patch notes thread already. It's working as intended (but still might not be balanced as well as they would like). Each week there is a chance for new notables to spawn if a settlement has less than a certain threshold. For villages this threshold is 2, so eventually a new notable will spawn to replace the lost one (for a total of two), however, currently a third notable will never respawn in a village once it is lost.

Notables can disappear if they have low power or can be replaced if they die of old age. Depending on the total count in a location there is also a probability for a new one to appear. This mechanic wasnt removed. What the patch sought to fix was an excessive loss of notables and no sufficient replacement for them. Are you experiencing a lack of notables in your game?

I still had quite a few villages with only the one headman after a significant amount of time, and the permanent loss of the third notable is pretty significant in terms of recruit availability. Since only Landowners can give Noble recruits this is an even bigger problem in that aspect.

Two more things:

First, since Lords can recruit more troops from a given notable right at the start the recruit shortage affects the player even more than them. Spent a lot of time going from village to village over and over only to find the 1-2 notables there completely picked clean of troops. Second, the idea that notables can just disappear into thin air means you can waste a lot of effort building relationships with them to get more troop slots.

Ah i missed this one. I'll be back to report if a notable spawns, but so far my feed has a lot of purple "notable was lost". Has anyone noticed a notification for when notables appear?

I have uploaded the save of it happening. Also I reverted my game to 1.5 and it is happening as well there too. Not sure if notables are respawning or not I have not tested this yet. I will try monitor a village that only has 1 and report back on my findings.

*UPDATE* the two villages that only had 1 notable previously, rhemtoil and veron, now are back up to 2 after loading my save game, before I waited over a week and nothing happened. Not sure what the trigger is for them coming back, but there is a younger age 23 notable in these villages now. Note that they were recently raided which may be what caused them to dissapear?

I agree about the third notable. In terms of respawning a notable, there's a 50% chance per week for one to spawn if the village only has one left (100% if it has 0), so it could take weeks if you get some unlucky rolls.

First, since Lords can recruit more troops from a given notable right at the start the recruit shortage affects the player even more than them.
I believe that's still just a temporary cheat until they get the notable/lord relations implemented fully.

Second, the idea that notables can just disappear into thin air means you can waste a lot of effort building relationships with them to get more troop slots.
That's definitely a good point. They only have a chance to disappear when their power goes below 100 and they don't own any caravans, workshops, or properties (which villagers never do). However, the citical issue is that notables lose 1 power per day while they have an unsolved quest, so many village notables' power will continue to slowly decay until it falls below 100 and they eventually disappear. There isn't enough of a positive force to balance out the quest decay, so many/most notables end up disappearing over time, even though they are eventually replaced.

If it's any consolation, when a notable dies of old age their "relative" takes over for them and all relationships transfer over.

I'm really interested to see where village notable mechanics go in the future, but right now this aspect of them only seems to negatively impact the overall world-state without really adding anything.

If it were me, I'd revert the disappearing due to low influence portion until there's a way for them to gain power without player interaction. If they disappear at low power and lose power for unresolved issues, the world will always trend towards depopulating because even if the player is focused on doing quests 24/7, they can't be everywhere and will miss an overwhelming majority of them even if they're actively trying.

Either that, or increase the respawn threshold to 3 in the short term (though some villages have 4 so it would still be a net loss), and give notables with high player relations some kind of power equilibrium to keep the player from losing a bunch of effort until the system gets fleshed out.

I do love the idea of a family member taking over and preserving relations in the event of an old age death, and I actually laughed because that was going to be my suggestion for how to handle that situation until you told me that's exactly how it works already. Devs are a step ahead of me there, lol.

QA notified that the feature was working properly on their playthrough of your save files. Notables were able to respawn after some time.

Them disappearing could be useful if you're bad guy and end up with town area full of notables who hate you can won't give you quests. Assuming the replacements notable start at 0 relation anyways.

Replacements should be there in three weeks is what the programmers told be about this.

There is a mechanic already in place for them to (slowly) gain influence over time up to a certain point, but it is apparently not strong enough to overcome the decay from unsolved quests over a long enough period of time.

I consider it necessary to remove the disappearing characters mechanic from the main version of the game, and leave it only in beta versions. For at the moment, this mechanic does not give anything but problems to the players.

In beta 1.5.1 my game play has been a disaster. Notables are constantly disappearing and they are not re-spawning. I only have 1 notable in each village and they are almost exclusively headmen. This brings several problems. First apart from Azerai and Kuzits and Vlandia everywhere else is constantly raided since they are close to borders and don't have strategic depth. This means now Kuzits and Azerai are steamrolling everyone. Especially Kuzits which are always too powerful for some reason devs refuse to give them realistic armor and they just roll over everyone.
This is making game impossible. I am constantly defeating Kuzits armies and they just come back when I can only recruit from bandits I capture!!!
Also regarding landowners disapearing. This is not realistic. Landowners will not just vanish. Their heir will inherit their land meaning they keep their relations with you. Relations are based between clan A and clan B. so landowners cannot just vanish.
Please fix this disappearing issue.

Main e1.5.2.

Hope this is improved in future. Some towns/cities will have 5-7 notables, while many others have 4-5. Villages almost universally have 2 notables.
Those notifications that 'so-&-so was lost' are fairly regular.
