Dear Taleworlds,
I recently began a playthrough as a Khergit Mercenary. After maxing out my smithing skill at 275 for quick income, I began to level my other skills. Currently, at level 23, I have 275 smithing, 100 archery, and 100 riding with 5 focus points in each. I have at least two focus points in other skills such as athletics or one handed that I wish to level, but am noticing that skill levelling is markedly slow, with a large amount of experience needed before I can earn more points. It is much like the stalling point of the previous beta branches, but at a slightly a higher level.
My 1.4.3 character is a good horse archer, and a great metal worker, but will never be able to be a good trader or leader. I must progress through more levels than previous mount and blade games to make less progress towards what I desire my character to be. This feels worse than previous mount and blade titles, but can be improved without reverting to the system of the older games.
Possible fixes would be be to remove some perks that are considered must haves like "Controlled/Vigorous Smith," or "Everything has a Price," or make them accessible at earlier levels. Another option would be to shorten perk trees, and let us pick between more options per tier. Right now, the balance between specialist and generalist is too hard to find.
Thank you for the hard work and time you do to give us this lovely game.
