I don't have modding capabilities, so I can't pin-point just where the problem comes from, but currently, with the new 1h perks implemented and seemingly working in-game, the NPCs that have high 1h skills by default, are swinging 1h weapons at a speed that is both unprecedented and uncounterable.

I'm not talking about just "fast swings" here. I'm talking about something like 3 full swings within 1 second ~ 1.5 second time frame.

This isn't just fast -- this is nigh impossible to counter (sometimes, even with a shield) because it really does go over average human reflex speed.

That attack speed, also implies that the swing acceleration factor directly contributes damage -- which results in 1h swings dealing over 50 damage per pop -- the shield busts in under 10 seconds when fighting NPCs with 270 1h skill.

I'll see if I can grab a vid.

Note the speed of swing, damage done to shield per swing, and the amount of damage done with the single strike that KOs my character.

Without a shield and using weapon blocks, that speed is almost impossible to counter. Shield lasted for approximately 9 seconds, against a tournament weapon.

Also note the interval between the final strike that shattered the shield and the coup-de-grace. Less than one second, two consecutive high attacks. Didn't even have time to raise weapon to try static block.

Final strike 3 damage absorbed, 44 cut damage landed... with a tournament weapon.

Ah yes. Tharos. Fighting him is insane. I thought my game was glitching with how fast he was swinging that sword. He's so short too, it's like being attacked by a psychotic hobbit

It happened exactly the same to me with 1.4. Some nobles that I met in tournaments drank too much coffee.

I agree that it maybe need some adjustments but it's nice to see the impact of weapon skill in the game being much more meaningful !

You actually took 68 damage : 44 + 24 added from his perk, but it was a head shot and you don't seems to have a good helmet on you

Are you sure about that ? Because that would reaaally be overpowered and i agree that it should need to be change, i don't know if arm swing count as acceleration the same way that rotating or moving your character does

IIRC the speed increase of weapon swings do count as a part of the relative speed count, which inflates the damage.

That's really more than "meaningful" can describe. The speed in the vid actually feels slower because it's in 3rd person. When viewed from first person and without shields, unless you immediately raise block the moment the opponent initiates the attack motion, you won't be able to block it. Haven't really timed it, but I think the window of block you have is something like 0.25 seconds or so.

Jesus ^^ Now thats some jacked up commander for sure

I suppose I am glad to see skills taking effect at least? Hopefully TW achieves some sort of balance with this. Maybe less focus on dramatic swing speed and more things like damage, stun and all that.

I honestly would be OK with this myself, as long as 1) proficiency levels up a little faster for the player and 2) autoblock is added. Reminds me a bit of Hero Adventurers in Prophecy of Pendor, and those were doable once your own proficiencies were high enough. Also nice to see that shields can actually be broken now.

Please don't call it a bug, call it a feature!

Well, perhaps an "oversight" then, since clearly it seems the devs didn't check how much it would affect the existing NPCs with exceptionally high skill level in 1h...

I cheated my character to 300 1h skill (possible in theory if you max focus and the attribute), and the swing is almost instant, doing 100+ damage or something. It actually swings so fast, that I kept missing while on horse, because animation was so fast I kept attacking too soon lol.

I actually love it, though maybe they should reduce the swing speed a bit lol.

Can't wait till they do this to 2h *drool*
