1.34 request: please change starting quest :)

You know, the whole "you arrive in town and some guy attacks you and then you talk to merchant".

Nothing wrong with it, but having re-started many games, it makes it harder to fall into immersion when the very first thing you see when you start a new game is a quest you've played 50 times before.

P.S. best mod ever!

Can it be changed easily though? It's from Native, although I agree a more interesting start would be most welcomed.

That was exactly what I was thinking but never said! If possible make different starting quests that depends on the race you choose.

I've seen mods that remove it, ..so it is possible ... maybe Idi knows

I agree with ivj's request, but not for 1.34. It should be something about we have thinked about a little more that just for the next version. That's what everyone will begin with, just like the first words of a novel. For now, I find that the current starting "quest" doesn't betray Brytenwalda atmosphere. (:

Perhaps should it just be reversed (to avoid having to make something ex nihilo) : by killing this bandit, that would show himself as an agent of some lord or rich merchant, we would cause some trouble that we could choose to solve or not ? Or maybe the merchant should give a random quest, as guild masters do ?

Maybe not 1.34, but next release?

I'd love to see the beginning quest changed to something, that spawns a big story line.  I love open-ended atmosphere, but having a big story line, especially the kind where you MUST WAIT for like weeks and months as events unfold (so you get to explore the open world, while you wait), that ends with some huge reward - this would make the mod, and the game, complete, imho.

What I would like to see is the merchant character do more AFTER the initial quest instead of just wishing you good luck anytime you speak to him. He could be used as a guide through Britannia sending you on quests to see the important personages, locales etc.

or why not make the beginning quest more extensive? longer? not just save the brother and have the fight in the city, but do some more stuff, make more of a name for yourself in the opening quest?

yer you should change it to like some sort of battle depending on what beggining background you chose. For ex you choose saxon warrior so you start with about 40 saxons veterans raiding a village killing innocents(if you chose lust for money and power) or fighting some pagans/christians  if you chose religous fervour. you know wat i mean it would be great if you did that  and you could still use adornos scenes for some of them
