1.0 Feels... Unfinished?

I honestly think the game was wrapped up a bit too quickly, the last major updates leading to 1.0 were all mainly graphics fixes and the inclusion of sieges, which is a tiny change compared to those seen between .6x and .75.

Now I'm not complaining since technically I have been playing an unfinished game for around 5-6 years (counting those with armok/dwarffortress) and I'm rather used to it, but I'm rather unsure how 1.0 will hold up in retail, considering that the large things being asked for have been all but ignored (improved interaction, actual sieges, etc). The game is a bit too shallow once you get past the main feature which is the fighting, and that can't be good.

I sieged that castle on hill in border of vaegir & swadians (originally swadian castle)
There was only one ladder, unlike people have suggested. It was just like previous versions: your people literally walked through you in the ladder, and if you moved an inch you get instantly pushed off.
Now the arrowhit animations made it even worse; falling from ladder was a piece of cake.

That was in press release, I hope it's not like that in actual 1.0. Even though I fear it is.

Ummm sorry to burst your bubble but the press release is the 1.0 download but just only the game, nothing else and there is a siege tower in a lot of them too not just a ladder.

Im not too worried, the combat is just so good that it is likely to keep me occupied for at least a solid month.

I remember when I first found M&B, I had just bought Company of Heroes on gamestop.com I was waiting for the game to finish downloading when I saw an add for Mount&Blade. I read up on it and decided to play the demo of it in order to make time go by faster while waiting for CoH to finish downloading. A few hours later I had bought and downloaded Mount&Blade, I didnt play Company of Heroes until about a week later.

*shrug* He might have gotten to the point where he couldn't go further without breaking something.

Hope he'll use what he learned to great effect in M&B 2.

*Sigh*, I wish Armagan had included the battle tactics kit, and a lot of different suggestions from the forums. How long do you think it'll take for M&B 2 to come out?

I need to agree to the feeling of unfinished. I know that a lotof people will say that they will buy it to play it, we only do that because we are the comunity behind Mount and Blade. We were all playing mount and blade sine .6 whatever, andsomeof us , even further back, but i don't think that this game will appeal to the masses, which we must agree that they are some really narrow minded gamers. My friends don't understandme how can i play something like this, all of them playing Halo and Half Life.

Don't get me wrong, i am just saying that i believe the 1.0 should have been postponed, and a lot more of the features that were suggested on the website to be implemented. I will love it and i will buy it and i will play it, but i don't think new comers will be attracted to it.

Well i did find some bugs already but surely alot less than many other major games, we have great new animations, everything been polished and a new extensive soundtrack been added.

That is surely more than i expected even if we have a few bugs.

Before you jump to M&B 2 think about the great mods that will follow 1.0.

I am quite happy its finally out, the modding community is extraordinary and they will surely create a lot more content now that they have major version to work with. I dare say allot more than Taleworlds could "afford" to do.

I think 1.0 feels amazing.  Yes...compared to other major games it certainly is lacking in some aspects...but honestly what did everybody expect?  This is a game created by a tiny team and tiny budget (compared to major games) yet the scope of gameplay the game attempts is much grander then what would be expected.

Personally I consider the game truly a marvel with all things considered, and after some time with 1.0 I am completely satisfied with the game.  Bravo TaleWorlds and I wish you great success so that your next game can be even better.

With that said I agree regarding the "appeal" the game will have with the greater gaming population.  But let's face it....this game was never going to be able to compete with games from the big boys.  Even *if* everything was to a standard beyond what we have, the concept is really more of a niche game, and it's player base will reflect that.  I still believe it can do quite well, and god knows I have been whoring myself on many game forums trying to get greater awareness for the game.

I'm sure any problems that are in the final version will be fixed in further patches so don't worry.

Can't the castle meshes simply just be modified so they have a few more ladders?

It feels unfinished because it is an indie game. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it was never going to have the polish, the graphics and the amount of content of a AAA game with a budget of millions of dollars.
