0.711 froze when accidently hit "Restore save games&amp

I played 0.704 a couple of months ago, but uninstalled it. Now made a new install of 0.711 and accidently hit "Restore saved games" (no saved games ever existed) and the game froze. Had to finish it from the task menager.

Edit: Actually I have more serious problem - I cannot load a save game at all. I played a little and "assertion failed appeared" when I tried to load a game later. So loading a game is impossible for me.
