(0.632) Music fades during battle, then game freezes

I don't know if this kind of bug has been reported so far. At least a quick search did not reveal anything similar.

Anyway. I play in "normal" mode (where you can save anytime). Sometimes when I have played a long time and saved occasionally (1-2 hours or so, saved 3-6 times during that) suddenly the music fades away in the middle of a battle. It doesn't disappear totally, just a faint whim in the background but at first I thought all sounds disappeared. They didn't, since sound effects work normally. Although they seem to appear less frequently.

Now, this music "fading" leads usually to one of two different results:

1) Game freezes at the end of combat. Sometimes I have to reboot my computer, sometimes alt+enter works and I can just terminate M&B in WinXP desktop. Strange.

2) Game continues normally, BUT: I can't save no more. Trying to save game M&B informs me in red font "Unable to save game. Disk may be full!" which is puzzling, because at the moment I have at least ten gigabytes free space in every single drive I have.

Any clue for a solution? I haven't touched the options or tweaked game's setup file yet. Should I disable music, save the game less often or what? :?

Hi Corto,

Looks like a strange bug indeed. I have no idea for a specific solution. You could try making sure all drivers (video and audio) are up to date.

Yeah. Sorry I can't tell anything more specific about the bug at the moment. I'll try to report back if I manage to bring the program down with a proper error report. :)

I have a similar problem with music. It fades and sounds again at any time.

Example: I have no music in map mode, and in the middle of a fight, the map's music is played for a few minutes, then fades and the there is no music. After some minutes (long fight, ;) ) the combat music plays again, but before end it fades again :/

I get this bug too occasionally...
You can fix it, by turning off the Hardware Accelleration of you sound card...
Click on Start->Run (I guess it must be "Run" on english Computers...don't really know since I'm German ^^)
And type in dxdiag
Then just click on the "Sound" header, and turn it off...
This might cause some sound problems with other games though, so you might have to turn it off and on every time you want to play M&B :(

Hope this works for you too...it does for me!
